My father was born in Hungary and emigrated in the 1930s; he was a journalist in Budapest, Berlin, London, and ultimately in New York, and became a popular figure in America (he wrote the books that the films Patton and Tora! Tora! Tora! were based on, among others). But he never let go of his Hungarian identity and I suppose it has rubbed off on me because I've developed a Budapest center of gravity. My wife and I have purchased several apartments in Budapest and live there several months each year, using it as a jumping off point for other European travels, even as I continue to be a law professor in the USA.
We have built a website about Budapest http://everythingbudapest.eu and rent our five apartments out to travelers and short-term guests: http://budapestvacationrentals.com -- these are also listed on TAs Vacation Rentals page for Budapest as Apartment Max, Apartment SarahBelle, Apartment Andrei, and Apartment Olive (Rated #1, #2, #4, and #7 respectively).
