    Sudbury holiday rentals

Sudbury is a historic market town in Suffolk, one of the largest counties of England in East Anglia. Although the town itself is small, it can act as a great base from which to explore the East of England, and as such it is a great choice for a family holiday. In addition, with a wide variety of rental homes, particularly rural and semi-rural cottages, in the area, it can work out as a surprisingly low cost area to spend your next holiday.

    What to do in Sudbury

Sudbury itself is worth exploring on foot, a small family friendly town with a shopping area (mostly full of chain shops but with a few great local shops), and a few good bars and restaurants. Fans of art history will be pleased to discover the house of Thomas Gainsborough on the appropriately named Gainsborough Street at the bottom of Market Hill, and book lovers may be amused by the plaque at St Peter's Church which acknowledges the fact that the town was referenced in Dodie Smith's classic 101 Dalmations. Probably not, though - the mummified cat beneath the Mill Hotel is a much more tempting proposition for most young tourists. Once you have exhausted walks around the meadows around the nearby River Stour, Sudbury makes a great base for exploring the rest of Suffolk and East Anglia, from the vast open expanses of the Norfolk Broads to the bright lights of Ipswich, and of course the golden sandy beaches down the east coast of England.

    Renting a cottage in Sudbury

There are a huge number of rental cottages in and around Sudbury, and in the surrounding area, which means you can find some great deals on rental homes if you shop around. With weekly prices as low as £320 for a cottage which will easily accommodate a family of four or more, a self-catered holiday cottage works out as a real money saving option compared with booking hotel rooms. The fact you can prepare your own packed lunches in your holiday home can also contribute to a low cost holiday and make the budget stretch for the odd luxury evening meal out. And the added privacy and extra space of a rural cottage retreat makes them great for kids - the youngest members of the family can run around and let off steam to their hearts' content, without you worrying about them disturbing the neighbours!
