EXCELLENT
We had a wonderful stay at La Vieille Ferme, the location is fabulous and we enjoyed very much the pool and having our meals on the terrace. Our host was very nice and helpful. I recommend this rental.

Our 2nd Visit! Another wonderful stay
Our second holiday to La Vieille Ferme and yet again we had a wonderful stay. The pool was just a welcome break from the hot weather we experienced during this trip. With 2 girls the accommodation was perfect. The Gites are of high spec and perfectly located for our trips out an about such as Beauval Zoo only 45 mins away by car and Chateau de Chatillon approx 1 hour away. (Don't forget to do the Kayak or boat trip in Chatillon too). A wonderful family holiday which we would highly recommend for anyone looking for a well equipped, beautifully kept Gite with onsite facilities and in a quiet location. Thank you and cannot wait to return again.

Simply Fabulous!
I had searched long and hard for excellent gite accommodation for our family holiday this year, and my goodness this did not disappoint! We arrived with a warm welcome and a superb welcome provisions pack which we easily arranged in advance. The gist are beautifully clean, spacious and very comfortable with everything you need to cater for a stress free self catering holiday. The pool is spotless and as keen swimmers we spent many hours enjoying the crystal clear warm waters it offered. On site there are endless activities from cycling (recommend cycling to the local village of Obterre where there is a lovely cafe/bar to welcome you after your cycle ride - approx 5 km away). We enjoyed the badminton and table tennis facilities on site too (can't beat a family table tennis tournament!). We enjoyed many evenings cooking and with the BBQ facilities on site dining al fresco was a real treat - the local supermarket is only 10-15 mins drive away and stocked with everything you need. There is a little cafe just up the road who can provide fresh croissants if you wish but recommend to pre-order the day before. The location of the accommodation is great and easy to get to the many chateaus and sights in the area. We recommend the wonderful Beauval Zoo ( not to be missed with the Giant Pandas) approx 40 minutes away, Valencay Chateau which is fully furnished, and also Chateau d"Azay-le-Ferron which is beautiful and only 10 mins down the road. We visited Chateau Chambord which is magnificent outside but apart from the helix staircase inspired by Leonardo di Vinci, there is not much else inside other than the Kings Chambers. Other sights we visited were Bellebouche Lake where there is a man made beach - we recommend taking a picnic as the restaurant there only took bookings for more formal sit down meals (which we thought was odd for a lunchtime family attraction) and the beautiful village of Montresor is certainly worth a half day visit. For anyone wanting more than relaxing villages and beautiful surrounding countryside, we spent a couple of evenings in lovely Loches (30 mins away) and for families (we have two daughters 9Yrs and 13 years) the 'Sforza" Pizza and Grill - it is full most nights and pre-booking is essential as many of the local french eat here. Don't bother with the Hotel De La France which we booked into - the staff were unhelpful and menus very sparse - we walked away and went back to Sforza!
Will definately come back and visit again as there is still so much to do in the area. A wonderful relaxing and enjoyable holiday, and gets accommodation that is the best we have ever stayed at. Highly recommended.
