About the neighbourhood
Doodale cottage is located on the outskirts of Malton in the village of Old Malton. Located in a conservation area, Old Malton is a pretty village with many stone cottages and two pubs, the Royal Oak and the Wentworth Arms. Both serve good Yorkshire food. Malton has a variety of family run shops, family run cinema, restaurants, supermarkets, most major banks and a cattle market on Tuesdays and Fridays. On the second Saturday of each month (March to December excluding May) the Malton Monthly Food Market is held. 2014 saw the opening of the Malton Cookery School, which offers many different full and half day cookery courses, including Dinner at the Chef's Table where the dinn...
Getting around
Although we would recommend a car when staying at Doodale Cottage, we do have people to stay who arrive by public transport. By Train - Malton (just over a mile away) has an hourly train service from York and Scarborough. York to Kings Cross is approximately two hours. Bus Service - There is a bus stop within 200 yards of Doodale Cottage. The buses go to Pickering, Whitby and York. By changing at Malton, it is possible to take the bus to Scarborough, Bridlington and Castle Howard.
