About the neighbourhood
We are surrounded by open fields and enjoy vistas towards the Moors to the north and across the Vale of Ryedale towards the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty to the south which includes the famous Castle Howard. The area is rich in history with the old Viking capital (Jorvik) City of York close by and the ruins of many abbeys and castles in the surrounding countryside. The market town of Malton is fast being known as the food capital of Yorkshire whilst Pickering is renowned for its Steam Railway links through the beautiful moors villages made famous by TVs Heartbeat and the James Herriot's vet stories, to the historic fishing port of Whitby
Getting around
A car is essential to enjoy our wonderful surroundings but we are also surrounded by beautiful countryside with many well marked walks and bike routes. We can also arrange Pick up and Drop off as well local trips out from the cottage if you prefer. There is a regular bus and train service from Malton with a full intercity service to the rest of the UK from York
