The gardens and immediate surrounding area play host to a wide range of fauna including red squirrel, pine marten and otters playing in the bay with numerous bird species also present, which includes occasional sightings of Golden and Sea Eagles over the Bay.
A few hundred yards north of Grannda Mhor are the famous Arduaine Gardens and The Loch Melfort Hotel offering an excellent bistro and formal restaurant with incredible views to the west.
The bay at Arduaine has its own jetty for you to launch your rib or kayaks and is on the now famous west coast Sea Kayak Trail!
2.5 miles to the south of Grannda Mhor is Craobh Haven, a popular holiday and sailing village with berths for up to 250 crafts.
With a harbourmaster, marina office and store -the stunning views take in the local islands of Shuna, Seil, and Luing, as well as many better-known islands from Jura in the South to the highlands of Mull in the North.
Running regularly from here are a number of excellent wildlife cruises which also take in the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan with the largest whirlpool in the world.
The village has a local shop and a highly recommended pub/restaurant 'The Lord of The Isles'.
25 minutes' drive north along the A816 coastal road is Oban, a picturesque and bustling harbour town with an array of splendid shops and restaurants to experience; known as "The Seafood Capital of Scotland" it doesn't disappoint. With fishing boats in the bay, and regular Calmac Ferries leaving for the Inner and Outer Hebrides, one visit will never be enough.

This house is incredible for larger groups, we traveled as four couples and a dog. the house has all the amenities you need and more, large living area where we could all comfortably gather on an evening after a full day out and about. we tried the local hotel twice during our stay and were not disappointed . the beauty of this house is its closeness to the loch, great for our daily dips and paddle boarding. great stay and would certainly recommend. hope to be back soon.

House lovely but cold - interesting article in the welcome book.
The house is indeed lovely and the views pleasant. We read the "welcome" book after arrival to read that the owners "reserve the right" to charge for any electricity over 15kw per day - this may sound a lot but the central heating is electric and you have no control over this as it is controlled remotely by an app by the owners. The heating is apparently set at 13 degrees and the radiators boost to 21 degrees when there is movement - this means that every time you enter a room it is cold and you have to constantly walk past the radiators to activate the boost which is not on long enough to make any difference really. We sat with our travel blanket out of the car over our legs each evening whilst watching TV and on two mornings we had breakfast with our outdoor clothes including walking jackets - not what you would expect having paid over £1,300 for a week ! In addition to this we were not impressed by a newspaper article that was in the "welcome" folder entitled "Here's the dirty truth about letting out a holiday home" and which at best listed all the possible faults of holiday makers who rent a self catering let and in some parts launched a personal attack on certain types of people. The newspaper page was in the book immediately following a page titled " A warm welcome to your holiday home" ?? Something of a contradiction and how is this meant to make you feel welcome - you either want to let your house out or you don't. We would not recommend Grannda Mhor - lovely as the house may be as it is over priced for how it is run and the newspaper article was really inappropriate. I worked in tourism for over 15 years and have never seen the like of such an article left for customers to read. If you want to relax and feel at home stay somewhere else.

Thanks for your review Gilly, sorry you were not satisfied with your stay. We explained all this over the phone to you which at the time you seemed okay with but must not have been. It is a large house so having radiators left on in every room with the current expenses of bills would be astronomical which i am sure you can understand. We are in the same boat as everyone else with bills so its not really fair to shame us on having radiators kept at a lower temperature when guests are out and about all day exploring and leaving heating on full which can happen on occasions. We do not want to charge people a ridiculous amount for a holiday to cover electric bills, therefore, we have them set at presence to begin with but like I said on the phone and states in the folder we can/happily change that to be on schedule to suit your preference or have them on all the time which we did for yourself and you seemed fine with that.
You worked in the industry for 15 years but like you said you have never seen the other side of how some guests (of course majority are great, don't get me wrong!) leave accommodations on departures and what us as the hosts have to go through. It is not there to annoy guests or shame them in anyway so we are sorry if that's how you felt by it. It is solely there as a friendly reminder to respect the place you are renting as it is someone's house at the end of the day that they have put time and effort into making nice for your holiday.
Kind regards,
Gemma

Grand and more
A first class property with a view to die for. Clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Ideally placed for visiting Oban, Lochgilphead and ardfern. The garden, decking and living room with the sliding door segue into each other. Highly recommended.

A wonderful week in Argylshire, thanks to Grannda Mhor.
In late Sept, early Oct i spent a wonderful week in Grannda Mhor in Argyllshire. I was with a group of 8 Dutch ladies from a Photography club. From the initial contact with the owners i was helped fill in the details for our stay. Of course for Dutch women the coffee maker was of paramount importance. All my queries where answered in a friendly, efficient manner by Samantha.
On arriving the flowers, coffee and candies made us feel instantly welcome. Grannda Mhor was everthing that the advertisment stated, so we spent a wonderful week exploring Argyllshire. From fairy bridges to ancient castles, from woodland paths to island hopping we enjoyed our very own Scottish experience.
Then at nights we were back to our roomy, comfortable, peaceful house to catch the sunsets. Priceless!

Wonderful house with spectacular views
Stayed here with a small group of friends and we had a lovely time. We went off exploring each day but couldn't wait to get back to the the house each evening. It is so well set up for a group of friends or a family get-together with the kitchen, lounge and dining room all in one big area.
The views from the lounge are incredible, and we were lucky enough to spot a sea otter in the bay below. In fact, we liked it so much we will come back when the days are longer so that we can spend more time soaking up those views!

Comfortable, modern and well-equipped with beautiful views.
We stayed at Grannda Mhor over the September weekend this year and were delighted with what we found. This a real gem in the heart of the west of Scotland. The property is finished to an exceptionally high standard, with modern amenities and comfortable furniture. There were even games/DVDs and a drinks fridge which we made good use of ;) Our group comprised of 6 adults and 3 children under 5 - we were all comfortable and there was plenty of space for the kids to run around. The view from the property is spectacular! We would visit again in a heartbeat. Thank you West Coast Cottages :)

Wonderful holiday home in great location
A fantastic house in a great location with wonderful sea views. House was very well presented with more than enough room to comfortably accommodate 6 adults and 3 teenagers. We had a hugely enjoyable family holiday. Thank you to Sam at West Coast Cottages who went out of her way to assist with our ever-changing holiday plans.

Fantastic house with amazing view
I stayed here with my family in August for a week. The house was more than big enough for 4 adults and 2 children and we had a really comfortable stay. The kitchen was particularly well-equipped which made cooking meals together during our stay really easy and fun (including haggis-a first!) The highlight was definitely the spectacular view which you can enjoy from the living room or, if you're lucky enough to get good weather, from outside on the decked area. Loved the area, loved the house and we hope to return!

Large luxury accommodation with excellent view of the Argyll coast.
I stayed here with my family in September for four nights and we had a great time. The house is very well-equipped with four large and comfortable bedrooms and an excellent kitchen. The living area looks out onto the islands of the Inner Hebrides with a huge set of sliding doors that are a great feature of the house. Communication with the owner was excellent and they were very helpful. The house is raised up a bit from the main coastal road which gives it excellent views, so the approaches to it by foot or vehicle are short and steep, but we managed ok. We were lucky to get three days of good weather and saw red squirrels and an eagle from the cottage. The view of the night sky from the decking in the front garden was incredible.

What a view and what a house!
After a 10 hour journey we arrived at Grannda Mhor to be greeted by a spectacular view and a wonderful house.
You can sit and watch the view for hours from the outside decking or the comfort of the leather sofas and the provided binoculars and telescopes are very handy. We saw seals on the island across the water and watched many a boat leaving or returning to Croabh Haven just to the south.
The house is well appointed and very comfortable; a great place to stay with family or friends with 4 large bedrooms and plenty of additional space to spread out.
Oban is 25 minutes north and there is a lot to see or do in the vinicity, come rain or shine.
Would be great at any time of the year.
