Almyrida is a small village on the north coast of the western Crete, is ideal for your holiday by the sea, surrounded by nature and just a few minutes' drive from the airport or the city of Chania. Until recently it was just a fishermen village of 50-100 residents. Due to its wonderful Mediterranean climate, its two clear, sandy beaches and its beautiful nature, the village has recently evolved into a tourist resort. Almyrida is now famous for its taverns' fresh fish and local delicacies as well as its quality night-life. The natural surroundings and neighbouring villages offer endless hours of trekking and exploring while there is always one or the other traditional celebration or festival with its local food, music and dances taking place
How to get there
Chania airport to Almyrida: Almyrida is 25km from the airport and a 40 minute drive around Souda Bay. Heraklio airport to Almyrida: Almyrida is about 2 hour drive on the National Road. A pick up service by taxi can take you from the Chania Airport to Almyrida on your arrival for 90 euros. This price also covers taking you back to the airport on the day of your departure. Local buses run regularly between Almyrida and Chania city. There are always local taxis available.
