La Petite Maison with its calming decor and light oak furniture is the perfect place to relax and chill by the pool or just to sit and watch the world go by in this haven of tranquility. It is equipped to a very high standard and the pictures speak for themselves, although we are told the size and beauty of this accommodation is not seen to the full advantage in the photographs. Blissful peace and comfort
I stayed at Ian and Val's delightful gite whilst looking for a holiday home in the vicinity. The gite is tastefully decorated and excellently equipped overlooking a sparkling pool. I felt totally secure and whilst the owners were always available for anything that I required, yet they were never obtrusive. The gite is perfectly positioned for those wanting to explore the Charente and I was able to truly relax and unwind whilst there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gite or their other larger option as a great holiday destination.

Comfortable accommodation and welcoming hosts
We stayed in La Petite Maison for 3 nights on a short break from our home in Brittany where we also have a gite,.. so I guess we had an extra perspective on the visit as owners of a holiday property ourselves. The cottage fulfilled expectations and was of a high standard of comfort in terms of furnishings, facilities and equipment, with several thoughtful touches included. The gardens and surroundings were beautifully cared for, and the location peaceful, in a small hamlet just a few kilometres from Chateauneuf sur Charente. Les and Christine have the management of their holiday homes down to a fine art, with an office and presence on site whenever you might need them. I found them to be very helpful, professional and friendly at the same time.

Peaceful & relaxing with all the home comforts
We were made to feel very welcome by Les and Christine from the moment we arrived. Their help and advice on where to go and visit was invaluable, highlights for us were Cognac, St Emillion, La Rochelle and Angouleme. It was surprisingly warm given it was the beginning of October. The gite was beautifully furnished, clean and well equipped with a really comfy bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at La Petite Maison and would recommend here to anyone. Thank you again Les and Christine for a memorable stay.

Peaceful and Elegant
We have holidayed in France over the past 20 years but had never visited the Charente. Arriving at Le Petite Maison we soon realised that we had discovered a real gem. It is beautifully decorated, really well equipped and has the most amazingly comfortable bed. And then there are Les and Christine who are the most incredibly friendly and helpful hosts you could wish for. We had a wonderful week and wish we had stayed another

5 * Accomodation & 5* Hosts
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at La Petite Maison. It had everything we could possibly require - as described in the property information .. & all was fully functioning. We had a beautiful, comfortable bed & linen, big fluffy towels, walk in shower... - home from home! The view onto the pool was very special & we had very enjoyable breakfasts, lunches & late night drinks there. Christine & Les are professional, welcoming hosts & nothing is too much trouble for them. This is an ideal place for a get-away-from-it-all break, a tour of the Cognac area or a family/friends reunion (the complex of 3 gites can be block booked). Many thanks for a wonderful time!

Perfect rural retreat
We have just returned from a wonderful 2 week stay at La Petite Maison. The gite exceeded all our expectations, it is beautifully situated in the small hamlet of Chadeuil a few KM off the motorway running from Angouleme to Bordeaux. The accomidation is extremely well kitted out with more than enough glasses, plates, cutelery, pots , pans etc. While ther is no washing machine in the gite, Christine iallows you to use hers when you want. The standard of decoration is very high and quality of furnishings linen. towels etc excellent. We felt the bed was probably one of the most comfartable etiher of us have ever slept in!! Les & Christine are fantastic hosts, really making a huge effort to ensure everyone staying at the gites is enjoying themselves - they even threw a drinks party on their terrace, for all guests, one evening while we were staying!! As we were staying 2 weeks Christine allowed me to see all three gites - and I have to say the other 2 were equally as nice as ours The area around Chadeuiil is great - rolling countryside with fields of vines and sunflowers. There are plenty of toens and villages close by, and lots great restaurants if you dont fancy cooking. All amenities can be found in nearby Chateauneuf, (complete with railway station conecting to Aungleme, Royan, Cognac etc) a few minutes away by car or about 20 by bike. We loved going there in the morning for coffe, and to shop at the local market - I'd expecially recommend the fish stall. If you don't feel like going out, then the pool area and gardens are great to chill in. A lot of thought has gone into providing different zones for guests to use All in all I have no problem highly recommending these gites if you are looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful part of France - you will come back completely refreshed!!

Amazing, relaxing week
We stayed at the La Petite Maison after getting married in the Charente and we had the most amazing, relaxing week. We had planned to visit lots of places around France and use the Maison as a base, but we felt so comfortable there we just decided to stay local and only going as far as Cognac. Christine and Les are brilliant hosts and very welcoming, sharing lots of interesting places to visit. whilst we were staying with them they invited us to the local village fete that was being held in their orchard, we joined in with the locals and their families and had a wonderful evening, everyone was so nice! We would defiantly come back and visit, this time stay for 2 weeks.

Outstanding!
We had a wonderful holiday. The accommodation was superb and the welcome was warm. Les and Christine did everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay without ever getting in the way. Les even rescued my barbecue when I bought lava briquettes instead of charcoal. It's a great region to explore and the accommodation is set in a beautiful little village. The apartment furnishings are frankly a cut above what one expects from rented accommodation and things like WIFI access and SkyTV in the property are superb touches. It was great to be able to access the internet so we could plan trips etc. I honestly don't think I could have spent my money any better!

Tranquility, comfort and thoughtful and welcoming hosts
What a great holiday and what lovely accommodation! We were made so welcome and every need provided for. The home grown figs walnuts were very special. The gîte was lovely, the surroundings really peaceful and the bed – oh so comfortable! We couldn’t have wished for more. Would love to come again and definitely recommend the accommodation at Maison du Ruisseau. L and K Bennett, Luton September 2011

Accommodation is faultless, truly, we discussed it, and there’s nothing we would change.
One week in the Petite Maison, Charente, what could be more perfect? Well, certainly, two weeks! Accommodation is faultless, truly, we discussed it, and there’s nothing we would change. Christine and Les were perfect hosts, helpful, kind, informative, the list goes on….. The Charente is a beautiful region, with lots to see, more than we had time for. We return home relaxed but reluctant. Many thanks. K and M Johnson, Suffolk

About the neighbourhood
Chateauneuf sur Charente is our closest town built in the plains and hills bordering the Charente with 3500 inhabitants. On market days Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays it is a place where people gather to sit and catch up in the local bars and cafes whilst leisurely shopping. There are two large supermarkets, three banks, chemists, bars, restaurants, doctors and a hospital. In the opposite direction is the town of Barbezieux St Hilaire which is larger than Chateauneuf with more restaurants a larger market and a hospital with an emergency department. Jonzac is just 15 minutes drive away where there is a large leisure complex with indoor and outdoor swimming, gym, solarium and spa. This pretty village has a market on Fridays and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to explore.
