The views from the barn are spectacular whatever the season. Great for families, friends and couples to get away but also be within 30-40 mins of Leeds and Manchester. We are very baby and young child friendly with all the baby equipment here already...

Interaction with guests
I live very close by, so will be available to ensure that guests find Crabtree Barn (it is hidden away in the beautiful Blackburne Valley) and show them around the property. If I can not be around there is a key safe in which the key will be stored. I know the local area very well and can offer advice on places to eat, visit and how best to get there. I usually check everything is alright on day 2 as well and then keep out of guests' way, although I am always available to help if needed.

We returned 'home' for a family wedding and enjoyed the barn, in the summertime this time. Took beautiful walks along the local country lanes and paths. Great pub food locally at 1885. Day trips to Hadrian's Wall, York, and local 'memory lane' trips to HTAFC...More

Lovely place, well fitted out and comfortable, all in a beautiful setting. The owners made every effort to make sure we had everything we needed. The barn is ideal for two couples as we were, everything was "just so" and well organised. We would definitely...More

Beautiful place and we had a wonderful time. Wayne was very helpful throughout, particularly when he helped to dig us out of the snow when we left!

About the neighbourhood
Crabtree Barn sits on the border of Calderdale and Kirklees and just inside the Calderdale border. We are situated rurally in the parish of Ripponden and Barkisland tucked down a small wooded valley with great views across the valley and towards the hills of Ripponden and Hebden Bridge.

Besides its dramatic moorland and valley scenery, crossed by numerous footpaths, and traditional stone buildings there is a wealth of exploring to do in town, village and country. Walks and cycle routes are straight from the door of the barn and on Marsden Moor National Trust area 5 minutes drive away, birdwatchers can find curlews, twites, lapwings and golden plover. Deer and spotted woodpeckers are seen at the barn itself.

To the North just 10 minutes drive away, Ripponden hosts the annual Pork Pie f...
