Best Self Catering Cottage ever.
Bayview is the best self catering accomodation I have stayed in. From the outside you might think just a wee bungalow, but inside it is very spacious and modern, open plan. Lots of windows let lovely light in. Large TV, good size freezer and fridge, and a well equiped kitchen. Superb shower in the Bathroom. Comfortable King size Bed plus sofa bed. Outside is enclosed so nice and secure for the Dog. Everything is very clean and tidy, of a high standard. I cannot fault it ! 4G is available on both EE and Vodafone, and the Wi Fi is excellent. You will get plenty of peace and quiet here. There is a great beach not far away, we drove down, half a mile, and the Dog loved it. The cottage is not far from Callanish Stone Circle, Dal Beg and Dal Mor beaches too, plus many other sites of interest. Stornoway is an easy drive, again not too far. We got lucky, we had the company of a Cornrake one night, right outside the cottage ! Plenty of Wildlife around the area for those interested. Last but not least is Megan the owner, nothing is too much trouble, she answers every email within a short time, and does not intrude. A shining example of how it should be done. The bonus being Megan is a local resident.

Best cottage with stunning views
Had a fantastic week on the island my partner and our 2 dogs were staying at bayview for the week. We got stunning photos of the sunset at Shawbost beach just a couple mins drive from the cottage on our first night. We loved Megan's cottage so much we are going back for 2 weeks next year.

Lovely cottage
Lovely modern, clean cottage in lovely location set just back from road in village with views out over fields to the sea. Very handy for all of the west coast of Lewis but a day trip to explore Harris is still an easy and very scenic drive. The only thing I missed but wouldn't moan about was the lack of DVD and radio/CD player as tv often not worth watching. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Stunning
Lewis was always on our Bucket List. First property I looked at was Bayview and my wife and I fell in love with the images and the reviews. We were not disappointed as the property is stunning and finish inside is of an extremely high standard. From the beautiful light oak wooden floors, to the brilliant white painted walls. The stunning Kitchen which is incorporated into the sitting room. Fantastic Bathroom with large shower cubicle to the Bedroom with all the light that is emitted through the windows, one I assume was a previous door is now a glass window. As previously stated by other guests there is a Welcome Pack with all the basics plus a bottle of wine, such a nice touch from Megan the owner. From the moment we booked any questions we asked were responded by Megan within the hour, and we had a lot. We were caught up in the Ferry Fiasco with ours cancelled just as we checked in for our relaxing overnight stay at the Uig Hotel at 17:10hrs. We then received a text at 17:40hrs saying that our Ferry was cancelled. We then had to drive for over 3hrs and 135 miles to catch the 03:00hr Ferry from Ullapool arriving in Stornoway at which point we had been on the road for over 25hrs with no sleep. Megan had let me know the previous evening that we could access Bayview earlier than the 15:00hrs as the present occupiers had to leave at 05:30hrs to catch the Ferry we were on. We accessed Bayview at approximately 10:30 am as Megan had been down before 8am to clean and prepare the cottage for us. Megan we can't thank you enough for this. As soon as we entered the memories of the previous 28hrs were erased as we looked around the stunning interior of Bayview. We all have different things we want to see and do while on holiday, but one of the most important things for us is the accommodation. Believe me anyone who is fortunate to book this property will not be disappointed. We hope to return. We were unfortunate to be the only place in the UK not to be caught up in the heatwave but it did not spoil any part of our holiday on the beautiful Island Of Lewis............oh and once again the STUNNING Bayview.

Perfect escape on the west coast
Bayview is a wee gem on the west coast of Leeis and perfectly situated for exploring the island and close to fabulous beaches. The cottage is bright, modern and spacious and has been tastefully renovated. Megan was really helpful in answering our questions and we appreciated the welcome supplies. Would highly recommend.

Immaculate cottage
This is a comfortable, roomy, modern home to rent with everything you will need for your stay. Immaculately clean and fresh with tea, coffee, milk and wine awaiting your arrival. There is a small sandy bay within walking distance and everything else on Lewis and Harris easy to reach by car. Our dog loved the secure garden and we loved the peaceful surroundings; I couldn't recommend it more.

Fantastic holiday home
We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage, we are a couple and 2 dogs. The house is modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. Good quality towels and bedding are provided. The owner provided very clear directions and check in instructions and left a welcome pack which was a lovely touch. There is a nice beach within walking distance (20 mins) but this was along a main road so we drove down as there is room to park there. The owner put us in touch with a Harris Tweed weaver who gave us a demonstration, he also has tweed for sale, this was a lovely experience. All in a great holiday and I would recommend this cottage.

A Perfectly Located Home for Exploring Lewis
As we decided to extend our tour of the Hebrides, we found this wonderful property on Tripadvisor. As it turned out, Shawbost is the perfect place to see all the sights of Lewis. The property itself was immaculately presented, and was perfect for the two of us. It has a large open plan lounge/kitchen, plenty of space to prepare food and very clean bedroom and bathroom. The front has views of the nearby coast/beach, and the rear has views of the nearby hills. We even saw the Northern Lights from the front doorstep on the very first night of our stay. The owners were more than helpful answering any queries that we had, and the local community are very friendly, we even had a demonstration of traditional weaving techniques from the owner's father-in-law. Overall, we can highly recommend this property, as well as the local area of Shawbost. We would be more than happy to return to this property again. Norman and Claire

Comfortable and well located.
Shawbost has a lovely beach in a relatively secluded bay just a short walk from the cottage. The village is well situated for access to all parts of the Island. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. It is in a quiet part of the village, set well back from the road through. The large windows and French doors off the living, dining and kitchen spaces gives the cottage a very light and airy feel. The views to the front of the cottage include the Atlantic Ocean. Communication with our host, Megan, was very timely and comprehensive. The welcome pack was indeed very welcome. Overall a lovely place to stay, providing everything we needed. Highly recommended for couples or small family.

About the neighbourhood
Shawbost is a traditional crofting community located on the Westside of Lewis approximately 18 miles from Stornoway. There is a safe sandy beach in the village, with other beautiful beaches only a short drive away in Dalbeag and Dalmore. Shawbost is particularly good for walking and wildlife spotting: it is situated on the Westside coastal walk, and otters and eagles frequent the area. It is also located on the Hebridean Way, with the historical attractions of Callanish Stones, Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Dun Carloway Broch, Shawbost Norse Mill and Kiln and Arnol Blackhouse all within a short drive.
