It was a superb stay 10/10 rating is less. We have booked both tree house rooms and one room in cottage. We went there with full family and enjoyed a lot . Actually the owners specially uncle and bhaiya were highly cooperative .They have given us high respect and love . Uncle treated us Iike his children. It was really wonderful time with them. Property is so beautiful .ALL must visit this at least once in their life.

Journey to find inner peace and tranquility
Drove from Delhi in our battered Honda city before sending it to retirement. The last 3 km leading upto the homestay were slightly challenging but overall a smooth ride. Please do not go there if you are looking to party, enjoy the nightlife or do cafe hopping. But if you are looking for serenity in the lap of nature surrounded by mountains and a short walk from the river, go no further. To walk to the river, you need to be reasonably fit, but that elevates the whole experience. The Upreti family led by Upreti Uncle sets new standards in hospitality. Do remember, the homestay is run from the heart with everyone in the family and the limited staff chipping in. Superb home cooked pahadi food, Blacky and Sandy, the two dogs who kind of adopt you and the beautiful mango tree under which the meals are served, the whole experience was magical. The engineering marvel of the suspension bridge leading to the river, the greenhouse on the property and the walk through Alchauna village added to the experience. I hope they don’t change a single thing about the place as I intend to make it my home away from home.

An offbeat and welcoming home stay
Our stay from 21st to 23rd December, 2020 - "The Silent Valley" as the name says, is a brilliant home stay with a lovely welcoming family of Amit Upreti. Absolutely a homely feeling with home-cooked food which was lip-smacking. Away from the city chaos, this is a beautiful place to unwind which has a village feel with all modern amenities. The trek down to the river and the bridge which is of British era is worth it. Pet-parents or pet lovers - its an icing on the cake to be welcomed by their homely pets Sandy and Blackie who are a delight to be with. Extremely patient and knowing their boundaries, yet gelling up with all the guests coming over. It is an extremely peaceful state attained as you relish the hot home-made breakfast in the morning with the serene view of the mountains and the sunrise. Totally worth the stay and highly recommended for the ones looking for an off-beat stay. From Ramanathan Sridhar and Madhu Subramaniam

Fabulous, Fantastic, Warm welcome and Hospitality waiting for You....
The Silent Valley Summary 4.9 Excellent 48 reviews What guests are saying "Welcoming people, awesome service, fantastic food..." "Awesome place to visit with your family.. they host us really well ..." "Its nothing to die for, but interiors of room are a one-time shot." More Reviews  Search reviews People often mention nitish bhardwaj 5/5 15 hours ago on Google From hustle and bustle of city life (Gurgaon) we (myself, wife, and 2child) plan to go somewhere in uttarakhand as we searched out many unexplored places like chopta, Mount abott etc. Finally after seeing you tube video we plan our journey to silent valley. Now the journey had been started from Gurgaon to Silent valley. We left Gurgaon around 6:00 am sharp and reached 3:00 pm via ( hapur-rampur-bilaspur-rudrapur-haldwani-bhimtal) taking two stoppage 45 min each. When you follow Google map it may confuse little bit at chanfi you have to take down right road towards tadda that road was so narrow and quite excited will test your driving skills in mountain terrain but I enjoyed so much. When we reached resort we can't expect warm welcome and hospitality ... The property owned by Upreti family. There is no word to tell about the family I guarantee that you will not expect such hospitality and familiar behaviour that i was missed to all trips ever . The property was very neat and clean rooms are fabulous. During stay they provide pure cow milk for children. The food was excellent my special thanks to Aunty and Pandey ji for making delicious home made food . The property is around 100 acre and 60 acre are using for farming(poly house and green house) and rest other 40 acre they had made Jungle ,We people have to learn from these Nature loving family. In true sense after leaving my home (Gurgaon) go to another home Silent valley paradise home stay. After leaving our eyes was Mosturizing even though me and my wife continuously talking about each member (Upreti uncle aunty and his son Ajay bhaiya) of that house

Great place to unwind
Superb place. The room was spacious and sunny, so there was no need of a heater. The property and the farms are huge, so one can never get bored. The food was freshly made and was so delicious that we would end up over eating. Most importantly, the house owners were very courteous, friendly and helpful. A great place for bird watchers. Overall a great place to visit with your family and enjoy the hospitality.

Located in the middle of nature....peaceful and amazing place!!..Nice for family, friends and couples to experience the beauty of nature. Very well maintained home stay and beautiful organic/ dairy farm along beautiful river. Visiting River must do activity. There are many beautiful treks around property. Thanks to Lalit uncle and Ajay for their wonderful gesture and explaining us about organic farming and stories of the region. Lalit uncle is great host and kept asking if we need anything. Amazing meals and dinner by the bonfire. Overall a very good experience throughout our stay here... Looking forward to visit again!!

Awful experience NOT KIDS FRIENDLY
We stayed for 3 nights and we were travelling along with kids, both my son and niece are 12 years old.Though the location is nice but we didn’t have a good experience.Initially I had thought not to pen down my bad experience and was trying to avoid it but now I am writing as I would want the future travellers to be aware of this situation if they have kids. THIS PLACE IS NOT KIDS FRIENDLY. The owner of the place is an OLD MAN who runs this property along with his son AJAY and they both live within the property where we rented 2rooms. Though Ajay was very nice and customer friendly and good to talk to but uncle was just the opposite. Uncle (Old man) literally on many occasions scolded my son and Niece who were just playing around. We ignored beforehand but it got worse when my son and Niece both decided not to step out of the room as they were scared of the Uncle. He was quite rude and was overly obsessive about his property. I got into an argument with the uncle which was the last thing we would have wanted during our holiday trip. We literally thought of checking out before our actual checkout date but Ajay apologised on behalf of uncle which changed our mind. We were 2 couples and every night Ajay used to arrange BONFIRE for us but as usual Uncle didn’t leave any opportunity to ruin our mood. One evening when all 4 of us were enjoying bonfire sitting on Moodas ,my back got tired as there was no back rest and I requested for chairs to be placed.Ajay was quite quick and prompt and got us 4 Plastic garden chairs. After 30 mins uncle walks in abruptly saying “mere kursi ko aag se zara door rakhna kuch damage nahi hone chahiye”,To which I responded uncle don’t worry even we can get hurt if we come too close to bonfire and he said AAPKA KUCH NAHIN BUT CHAIRS KO DAMAGE NAHI HONA CHAHIYE.All of us got shocked and realised that theres something wrong wit him and we were looking forward to checkout. This chair instance had started very first morning of our stay but we didn’t mind it initially but it actually annoyed us to the core as we adults were also not spared by him. MESSAGE FOR UNCLE - Uncle jee we are adults and we know how to sit on a chair and plastic chair will make noise if you move it or try to get up from the chair. You shouldn’t be running this property instead let AJAY handle it. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO WITH KIDS and for couples please carry your own chairs. I WILL NEVER EVER REFER THIS PLACE TO MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY.

I will return. I love this place
When I booked the homestay, they said that there was no TV in the room. This for me was perfect. I wanted a place where I could listen to the sounds of nature, and this suited me. You can drive from Delhi, or take a train to Kathgodam, and then take a taxi from there. The rooms are simple. However, you can sit outside, and enjoy nature. The food and hospitality are the best. There are lots of places to walk around. I spent a lot of time walking down to the river and exploring the villages with my host. The Upreti family who run the homestay have been in that area for 150 years, or more. They know it well! The main building is itself 100 years old. You can either sit under a tree and have your meals, or sit in the dining area, and look at the mountains. I fell in love with the place, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy nature and the sounds of nature. Simple, healthy living with the warmest and most hospitable hosts you can find

out of the humdrum of city life, spend few days in starry nights.
my first experience of a homestay, needless to say was a bit skeptical initially with kids not finding the comfort of a resort tucked up in a remote place, but by the time we were leaving after three nights stay, we wished it to continue forever. we missed on horse riding and trek to the nearby hill but enjoyed a river side picnic, dairy farm visit, green house visit and of course the lovely mountain dog Blacky who was our constant companion during our outdoor treks.

A homely stay off the beaten tracks
We stayed at the Silent Valley homestay for 3 days and 2 nights, the weather was not the best but we enjoyed every minute of the experience! It was a bit like staying at your friend's parents' place - reading books on the terrace, chatting with the family, spending time doing nothing, off the grid and without network/wifi. The room was really comfortable, the food amazing, and the walks around the farm gave a great peek into the surroundings.
