Welcome to Tranquil Sands Self Catering Holiday Home
Our spacious modern two bedroomed bungalow that has been built on the family croft in 2012, is situated on the west side of the island of North Uist in the Western Isles. It comprises of a utility room, kitchen, dining room, lounge, family bathroom, two bedrooms (one of which has an en suite walk in shower), broadband and Wi Fi, an integral garage with remote controlled opening, a large parking area and a south facing patio area. Our bungalow offers beautiful open uninterrupted views and is within walking distance to an unspoilt beach. Our garden is fully enclosed and is ideal for dogs.
It is available to rent all year round and is designed to accommodate a max of 4 persons

Peaceful holiday in wonderful setting.
Our second visit and more will hopefully follow! The property is very well maintained and in an enviable location just a few minutes walk from one of the many fabulous shell sand beaches. Peaceful, well located and some very good walks nearby and good drives also.

The best holiday house we have ever stayed in
The location is very special: the house has its own space in Hebridean wildness and windows give near-surround views of land and sky. Inside is a warm comfortable temperature. All appliances work with ease, and the kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed walking on stunning, empty beaches, and the nearby tidal inlet is full of birds. Westford Inn - good food and welcoming bar - is less than 10 minutes' drive away.

A wonderful week at Tranquil Sands
Our first visit to the Outer Hebrides. After a week on the Isle of Lewis we moved south to Tranquil Sands. We had reviewed the property on the web site and we were not disappointed. A great centre to explore the islands and as we were there to play some golf as well, access to Benbecula, Askernish and Barra was very easy.
For us the unforgettable experience will be the wonderful white beaches. We spent many hours walking alone marvelling at the views and the opportunity to see the wonderful wild life.
The house had everything we needed. It was great to be able to sit, after a day playing golf or exploring, looking out over the fields listening to the birds and towards the end of the week the most glorious sunsets. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities excellent.

PERFECT BLISS, LOVE IT.
We first visited Uist in 2010 staying in Bernaray and this is our fourth visit to Paible, but this was our first stay in Tranquil Sands and my oh my what a truly stunning property, with everything you could possibly need, a real home from home holiday experience. The house is immaculate, spacious, very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable with all that you could want or need. The beach is about a ten minute walk from the house across the machair and with no traffic to contend with, our wee Schnauzer had an absolute ball. There are lots of good places to eat, and a drive to Eriskay is a must, as is a walk on the East and West beach, though there are many many beaches to visit, you'll never get bored of the scenery. Hebridean Jewellery is a lovely place to have lunch and the shop makes a great place for buying gifts for those at home. MacLellan's in Benbecula has all that you need grocery wise, in fact they stock things I can't even get at home! We were there earlier this year compared to previous years so the swans, of which there are many were all sitting on their nests on the various wee lochans but when we have been there in previous years it was beautiful to see all the little signets. Lots of bird watching to be had out there. We truly love being out in Uist and Tranquil Sands is by far the very best property to stay in, cannot wait to return. Who needs airports, long queues and large crowds when you can have a white sandy beach all to yourself and a perfect property to stay in, thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday.

Practical, peaceful luxury
Back for our sixth visit to Tranquil Sands, our 10 th to the Uists. By far our favourite home from home. The owners have thought of everything that you would need. It is so comfortable whilst being fully kitted out.
The house is surrounded by fields which are visited by a multitude of birds. It is a short walk to a glorious beach.
Tranquil Sands is practical luxury, ideal for four people with 2 bathrooms and plenty of space to sit and gaze.

Perfection
Tranquil Sands is the most perfect dog friendly, beautifully furnished and comfortable holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. It was the most perfect home from home, fully equipped with absolutely everything you need and more! We loved the location, so quiet and peaceful with beautiful views from every window. Lovely walk to a beautiful unspoiled beach which our dog Milo absolutely loved. Mark was the perfect host, keeping us informed and readily answering any queries. We would love to return to this gem in a beautiful part of the world! 🥰

Another wonderful week at Tranquil Sands
We have visited Tranquil Sands before and the house now benefits from a very well thought out extension to the property. I think it is fair to say that we could have spent the whole week in the house watching the all round view of the area, birds and wildlife it is just so relaxing there. It's a short walk to the beach, ideally with wellies for the shallow clear water with crabs, winkles etc. It's very close to the Balranald RSPB reserve, and a short drive to the St. Kilda viewing area, but St. Kilda can also be seen from the beach.
The house is well equipped with everything you could ever need, the beds are very comfortable, everything works as it should and there is a washing machine plus a tumble dryer (this is missing in many properties we have visited). The large kitchen is both stylish and practical, ideal for cooking full meals or taking it easy with prepared food from the nearby Bayhead shop (also has reasonably priced fuel). One pointer is to make sure you bring food for the first full day, or plan to travel to Balivanich for shopping, as the North Uist shops do not open on Sunday.
Highly recommended without reservation. We are actively looking forward to our next stay at Tranquil Sands.

Top choice.
Keep returning to this holiday home as it’s in a great location. The home is comfortable and very well and thoughtfully equipped, and frankly not to be bettered locally at all … we have stayed in a lot of others over the years.
Please don’t book as I want to go back

Home away from home
This roomy house feels like home. It is beautifully appointed, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could want to cook and eat at home, yet the house is within a short distance of 2 to 3 lovely places to eat out. The best of both worlds. It is situated in a quiet rural spot surrounded by machair and close to the coast. We loved walking the lanes and listening to the birds, or visiting the RSPB reserve close by. It was a great base from which to explore North and South Uist and Eriskay.
Mark dealt promptly with the booking and all enquiries we had prior to arrival, and provided lots of helpful details about the house (everything you need to know about heating/ovens/laundry etc), island activities and the ferry services.

Perfect Hebridean holiday homr
Once again we had a lovely holiday in Tranquil Sands. This was our tenth visit and it was all sparkling clean and comfy as ever. The house has everything one could wish for and lots of great places nearby to visit. We will be back next next year.
