Travelled 4.5 hours for this! Smelt damp and musty on arrival. Dirty, uncared for and basic facilities would be a kind description.
Toilet seat broken, dirty kitchenware, bath mat, tea towel and property in general (see pics). I could go on.
So upset, we had so been looking forward to this, our first holiday in near 6 years.
2nd time I booked through Original Cottages and last time. No quality control, just misadvertising poor properties as something they are not.

A dreadful stay
My son and I went for a stressful holiday which was ruined due to undisclosed details of the site.
I have 2 dogs and am always aware of places that have livestock around. Nowhere on the details does it state that there are free range chickens which wander about the lawned area. When we arrived the dogs went crazy, and therefore we could not enjoy sitting outside on the decking at all.
The owners have not thought about the people staying as there was not even a tea bag left as a welcome, I have never been to such a basic place. The heater in one bedrooms didn't work, neither did the TV.
We left early after a very disappointing, never to return

So peaceful and quiet
Spent five nights at Birch Lodge and found it very comfortable. Everything you need is there the only thing missing were bin bags and it would have been nice to have had a welcome pack would definitely return 😊
