HISTORY This truly historical place built within the medieval walls of the ancient village was used over 1200 years ago as a garrison room for the defenders of the wall and may have been used for the storage of ammunition during the Saracen invasions between the 7th and 10th centuries. After the 17th century, villagers started to inhabit the city walls transforming them into houses and opening larger windows. The outside walls are still over 2 metres thick which provides a welcoming cooling effect during the summer season and makes it easy to warm during the winter. FEATURES The living room has a comfortable sofa bed and large screen TV with access to international channels through the internet service. You have the option of dining inside or use the larger dining table on the terrace. From this vantage point you can appreciate village life as well as the old stone buildings and look over the rooftops to the foothills of the French Alps. Finished to a high standard, raw marble is featured throughout the apartment. The lounge has a wide flat screen television connected to the internet which gives you access to channels in various languages. The kitchenette has a convection cook top and twin fridges - one for beverages and one to store your market purchases! There is plenty of storage in the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom includes a washing machine. More

About the neighbourhood
A BIT OF HISTORY The region around Fayence is full of history. Archaeological findings belonging to the Mycenaean civilization (1600 to 1100 BC) provide evidence that the Greeks were visiting southern France in the 2nd millennium BC. This part of Provence was colonised by the Greek around 600BC until Roman occupation around 300BC. The Roman left a large amount of buildings, wells (Still used by local farmers), temples, theaters, arena and aqueducts (some of them are still carrying water from the Alps). Fayence is surrounded by lakes and natural wonders such as the Gorges du Verdon. The beaches and cities of the French Riviera are only 20 minutes drive away.
Getting around
We recommend using a car for most destinations. DAY TRIPS WE RECOMMEND: - Nimes (Ancient Roman city with arena), Avignon and Pont du Gard (Best preserved Roman aqueduct in the World) - Gorges du Verdon via Mons (A smaller version of the Grand Canyon of Colorado) , Lac de St Croix and Moustier. Great for kayaking, swimming, mountain trecking (You will need to leave early). - Visiting Antibes and Cannes and surrounding beaches - Visiting St Tropez and St Raphael and surrounding beaches - Visiting Nice and Monaco - Visiting Sisteron via Aix-en-Provence
