“The Iconpainter's Apartments” are in a sleepy quarter of the picturesque village of Koroni. From The Iconpainter's Apartments, everything is within walking distance. The apartments have been sympathetically created from an original Venetian style villa. The house is traditional whitewash with blue shutters. It has a tranquil courtyard where guests can relax and listen to the gentle sound of the fountain trickling into a pool. There are four one bedroom apartments, all of which are stylish in their furnishings and fully equipped for your every need. There is a double bed with 'coc0mat' natural sleeping system mattress, fully equipped kitchen, shower room, indoor and outside seating/dining space. All apartments have air conditioning and wifi internet access. The upper studios have a balcony to the rear where our guests can sunbathe or dine and a little balcony to the front with wonderful views over the harbour to the mountains beyond. The décor is clean and bright. Blues and whites are prevalent and there are lovely tiled floors. The studios on the courtyard below are very similar. They do not have a front balcony but have the benefit of a space in the charming courtyard in which to sit by the fountain, dine or just relax. All of the studios have air conditioning and there are shared laundry facilities. A solar panel and immersion heater provide hot water all year round. One upper apartment has a wood burning stove for winter visitors. Five minutes stroll takes you to either the magnificent Zaga Beach or to the vibrant village waterfront where there are many tavernas and interesting shops. There is parking 50 meters from the apartments. Koroni is said to be “one of the the most picturesques villiages in Greece”. It lives up to its reputation in every way. The village is “crowned” by the castle and monastery that both sit together above the village giving it the most beautiful silhouette. It is a wonderful bustling village full of life all year round. Many visitors come in summer but this village has life in every month and season. In Koroni, like the other little villages nearby, you will be welcomed warmly by the local people. You will eat in tavernas where the seafood cooked for you will have been caught that very day. You will be able to choose relaxing on many beautiful and unspoilt beaches such as Zaga, Peroulia, Kombi, Kalamaki and Tsapi to name a few! Remember, Zaga beach is home to the Logga turtle because it is so clean and peaceful. When you want a change from the beach, select from a whole host of attractions. Historical sites, Ancient and Byzantine are found at Messini, Methoni, Koroni, Pylos, Mystras and many more. The Iconpainter's Apartments are special. There is no better place to stay if a holiday within a real Greek village is your idea of a perfect Greek holiday.More

The fact that most of the Iconpainter's guests come because it has been recommended by others speaks for itself. We stayed in both Sun and Boat, the 2 upper floor apartments, both of which have lovely views of the harbour. It's perfect and romantic for...More

Michael and Maria clearly dedicate vast amounts of effort to maintaining the highest standards at the Villas and Apartments, but somehow also manage to fit in preparation of the finest quality produce from their own olive groves, vineyard, citrus and fig trees, with samples lavished...More

Location is spot on for all facilities required in a Greek holiday: you have the lovely beach nearby, all the shops you require and finally a good choice of restaurants, all reasonably priced. Koroni is centrally placed to tour the area. The village itself is...More

We live locally and are always on hand if you need anything. When you arrive we leave you a sample of our own olive oil, Kalamata olives and some home made jam or produce from our garden. In the courtyard is a barrel of our own wine for you to enjoy.

About the neighbourhood
Koroni is located on the southern tip of the Peloponnese - the southern most part of the Greek mainland. The picturesque village nestles below the ruins of a Venetian fort which now houses a charming monastery. The harbour front is lined with traditional tavernas and a cafes and is just a few minutes walk from the apartments. In the other direction, again just a few minutes walk through the village is the famous Zaga beach, nesting ground of the Logga turtle, and 3km of unspoilt sandy beach. Koroni has been nominated by UNESCO as one of four Mediterranean towns which represent the Mediterranean diet. this is because of the excellent local cuisine and the wide variety of food which is locally produced - from superb extra virgin olive oil, the famous Kalamata olive, unique dried figs, loca...
How to get there
There are direct flights direct to kalamata from various European airports. Do not discount flying to Athens and driving down. There is a motorway all the way from Athens airport to Kalmata (no need to go into Athens) and the drive is 2.5 hours. We are another 40 minutes down the road.
