On still days trout leap from the water and perch gather in the shallows. The house has a cosy, rustic charm with a spacious, kitchen dining room including a Lacanche Range cooker and log burner. Glass sliding doors give direct access onto the garden and patio area. The large lounge has a TV ,stereo system and an open fire, floor to ceiling windows offer views over the lake. There is a family bathroom with shower and jacuzzi corner bath, five bedrooms ( three double and two twins ). Three bedrooms have en suite shower rooms . A games room with football table and dartboard leads onto a utility room. *Please see the Accommodation Plan in photos)The attractive village of Cong offers an historical visit to the Abbey and Monks Fishing Lodge. It was the setting for the celebrated movie 'The Quiet Man', featuring John Wayne. There are several coffee shops and pubs with traditional Irish Music. Further afield, visits include trips through Connemara to the white sandy beaches of the coast, Westport House or Kylemore Abbey and Gardens. We have brought up four children here with days spent cycling, walking or fishing on the lake for trout, perch and pike, swimming off the jetty and BBQs by the water. A truly 'Swallows and Amazons 'experience! *****READ OUR REVIEWS SO FAR THIS YEAR *****'The house was awesome; everything was very clean, quiet and spacious. The atmosphere was cosy with regard to furniture and decoration and perfectly located at Lough Corrib where we could go swimming. The accommodation is fantastic for family groups or big groups up to 10 persons with a play room and a big grassy area for outside games and barbecues.' SANDRA from Cork who stayed at our house in April 2015'The house was fantastic for our group of 10 travelling from London for a wedding in Cong. The house is very spacious with great living areas and fantastic views of Lough Corrib. Tim gave me very detailed information about the location of the property and things to do in the area which was really helpful and much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this property as a place to visit.'NATASHA from London who stayed in April 2015'The house was exactly as it appears on the website. The kitchen and living room are bliss and the beds are really comfortable. We were there over Easter and the weather was wonderful so much so that three people dared to swim! Beautiful countryside surrounding this gem of a holiday home. We would certainly go back in a heartbeat. The village of Cong is sweet and if you have a special celebration Ashford Castle is a great venue for a delicious dinner. Thank you Tim we had a wonderful time' LUCY from London who stayed in April 2015'Absolutely fantastic for ten people. We had an absolutely amazing time. The games room is a big plus and we had a great time with the dart board and table football! The kitchen is huge and accommodates everyone really well. The living room is very cosy and a great place to chill out. Communication was clear and easy from the host throughout. I have a feeling we may be back some time in the future! Great fun was had by all.'Erwin May 2015'What a view... a beautiful house. We rented the Long House as a "home base" for my daughter's wedding at Ashford Castle. The waterfront location was perfect for my son and I to enjoy some fishing and provide beautiful, relaxing views for the rest of our party. The swans, geese, ducks,...More
