Ardenia is situated on the edge of the delightful village of Appleton Wiske. There are two pubs [serving food], a village shop and playing fields all within easy walking distance. The village is only 5 miles from the A19, which leads easily onto the A1. It is an ideal base to explore The North Yorks Moors, which are a short drive away. The historical cities of York and Durham can be reached in under an hour. Travel a bit further and you can explore the beautiful villages and countryside in the Dales. The charming seaside locations of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay are all within easy reach.The property is annexed to the main bungalow, occupied by the owners. This cottage has everything - beautiful views, well equipped, spacious, spotlessly clean, fantastically comfortable bed, really good shower, lovely friendly helpful hosts so I really hate to mention this one thing but here goes - I think the sofa in the lounge let's it down....More

Really enjoyed our stay in Ardenia. Good location to travel to the other towns of Darlington and Yarm. Appleton Wiske is a lovely well kept village. Can recommend Sunday lunch at the local - Lord Nelson.

The house is located on the edge of the village overlooking fields to the front and rear. The village has a large playing field next to the river with a children's play area and small skate park, also a large field for ball sports. From the south - take the A1 north until you reach junction 49. Take the A168 which continues as the A19. Continue for about 18mls. Take the A684 towards Northallerton. As you come off the slip road, turn right at the T junction. Follow the road through Ellerbeck. Take the first right to East Harlsey. Continue straight through East Harley, do not turn off into the village. Continue straight on until you come to the village of East Rounton. Drive through the village and turn left at the T junction. Follow the road to Appleton Wiske. As you enter the village, The Shorthorn Pub will be on your left.
