‘Camparone’ is set among the vines of the private and exclusive estate ‘Tenuta Villa d'Arceno’, a thousand hectares of vineyards, olive groves and forest at the southern end of the Chianti region. The ‘Casale’ comprises of two buildings, a former farmhouse and barn originally built in the fifteenth century. These have been restored using traditional materials, chestnut beams, terracotta tiles, stone and brick but with all the benefits of modern living within (air conditioning and WiFi throughout). The former farmhouse is now a luxuriously comfortable villa, tastefully and imaginatively decorated throughout in a Franco-Italian style, with a beautifully kept private garden and exclusive use of a ten metre swimming pool. The former barn is now two adjoined ‘bijou’ apartments in traditional materials but with a modern décor. The villa's beautiful garden has many outdoor ‘living’ areas and the exclusive pool from which to enjoy the breathtaking views or relax with a good book and a glass of wine! As an entire property, privacy is guaranteed providing at the same time a magical setting to bring your ‘Tuscan Dreams Alive’. Camparone's guests have the services of a complimentary Concierge, provided by a professional with many years of Five Star Hotel experience. Our guests can plan ahead for unique 'Tuscan' moments, for once in a lifetime experiences. From onsite cookery classes with a Tuscan chef; expert guided wine tours of Tuscany's exclusive wineries; horse riding amidst Villa d'Arceno vineyards and cypress avenues; or a day at the Palio, the famous horse race in Siena, originating from medieval times. The villa is reached along the estate’s ‘strade bianche’ (white roads) which are unpaved and along a majestic cypress avenue typical of Tuscany. A driveway lined on either side with ancient two foot high stone walls guides the visitor to the main gate of the Villa A hallway from the front door leads directly into a breakfast room with a large fully equipped kitchen on one side and on the other an opening leading into the east wing of the Villa with dining room and library. The dining room has two dining tables with a capacity to seat up to twenty people. Outdoors beside the kitchen is a large travertine table which can seat twelve people for breakfast, lunch or dinner ‘al fresco’, above the table under the vine leaves is a candle lit chandelier. The opposite wing of the villa contains the living room from which more doors lead outside to a pergola with garden furniture to relax on. Adjacent to the living room is the master bedroom with king bed, ‘chaise longue’, flat screen television, desk, chair. The ‘en-suite’ bathroom has two basins, a shower with back massage and hot tub. Upstairs on the first floor, are three more bedrooms and a grand loggia with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside of Chianti where you can relax on two ‘chaise longues’. On the second floor of the house is a unique architectural feature known as a ‘Colombaia’ which literally means ‘dove cote’, a large room with windows in all directions. This room contains a large flat screen television, DVD player, DVD library, computer with WiFi. This room has two sofa beds and an ‘en-suite’ bathroom. The barn (in Italian 'Fienile') hosts two additional and fully independent sleeping quarters. The upper level apartment has a very large terrace, a living area with kitchenette and bathroom, a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom and shower. The lower level apartment, with independent entrance, has a large garden, gazebo, living room with kitchen and very large master bedroom with bathroom en-suite. About the neighbourhood
Camaparone is located at the southern most end of the Chianti region. The area is of course famous for its wine production. It is also in such a situation that other famous wine regions are within easy reach, Brunello, Vernaccia, Nobile. Mainly rural farmland, vineyards, the famous 'Crete' a World Heritage Site, olive groves, cypress avenues, hilltop farmsteads and villas, oak forest with maritime pine trees, wildlife and of course the food, history and culture of the region.
Getting around
Italy has an excellent road network and getting around is straight forward. A car is necessary but on occasion when desired there are buses and trains for those day trips to Florence or Siena. Our concierge is also able to organise chauffeur driven cars if required, for a wine tour, for example.
