The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains, which can be seen from the cottage
and garden. We are located above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. In the foreground are sheep and lambs, as we are in a crofting area, together with lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottage well equipped, warm and comfortable. The cottage was rated 2* by Visit Scotland 2007-12 (we have now left the scheme).

The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides.

Interaction with guests
We live on site and will generally be around the evening you arrive to greet you. The level of interaction is up to you! Most guests prefer their own space so we try not to impose ourselves, but we are on hand to answer any queries (or if we are away ourselves we provide phone and email contact numbers). This week I have provided information on local health support and local music sessions for instance! There are 3 cottages onsite so there is also the opportunity to chat with other holiday makers.

I have stayed here twice during last 2 years in different part of cottage. The kitchen was fully equipped, bathroom was absolutely clean, beds were comfortable and the owner was always so friendly and kind! Thank you for the great time we could spent in...More

The cottage is small but comfortably furnished and ideally placed to discover more of the Cairngorms and the Highlands. Kingussie and the Fort and Inverness, Fort William are all within easy reach by car. The town, Newtontown is smaller than Kingussie which is just minutes...More

About the neighbourhood
Newtonmore is a traditional highland village with a long and colourful history: visitors can learn more at the Highland folk museum or Clan Macpherson museums located in the village. There is also an annual highland games and clan gathering in August as well as weekly shinty matches. Some of you will have seen the area featured in the popular TV programme ' Monarch of the Glen'.Today it depends on agriculture and tourism. The former can be enjoyed from the cottage in spring, when lambs skip in front of the cottage. Local restaurants serve good local produce to satisfy your appetite after a day spent hillwalking, mountain biking or skiing. Getting around
A car is helpful to see the most of the area but we welcome guests who arrive by bus, train or bike, meeting trains where possible. For train travel we suggest booking to Kingussie not Newtonmore as this has more frequent connections.

Airport: Inverness: 80.0 km
Railway: Newtonmore: 2.0 km
Newtonmore is situated approximately 65 miles North of Perth. If travelling Northwards by car, take the A9 signposted Inverness and turn off at the Newtonmore/ Kingussie exit. Drive right through the village and turn left after the Highlander hotel into Strone Road. This leads uphill over a cattle grid and bends to the left at the top of the hill. Croft holidays is situated on your left hand side. If flying, Inverness airport is served by Easyjet and Flybe from UK destinations; Edinburgh and Glasgow airports have flights throughout Europe with many different airlines. Car hire can be arranged from these airports.
