Cottage
Come and relax in a beautiful traditional detached crofter's cottage in the picturesque village of Torrin on the Isle of Skye. A fabulous base from which you can easily enjoy all the wonders of Skye. Torrin is a small village (7 miles from Broadford, Skye's second largest town) on the shores of Loch Slappin, close to a gorgeous secluded beach and nestled between the Red Cuillin and the mighty Bla Bhienn (pronounced Blaven, it means blue mountain). Bla Bhienn is our favourite mountain and arguably the finest Munro in Scotland! The cottage has been in the family for over 150 years, we have just completed a big upgrade. It is now rewired, re-plumbed with all new carpets and decoration in time for your visit! It's wonderfully homely and comfortable and very very peaceful. The property has... It is now rewired, re-plumbed with all new carpets and decoration in time for your visit! It's wonderfully homely and comfortable and very very peaceful. The property has been extended over the years comprising on the ground floor a cosy L-shaped living room with log/coal burning stove. An initial supply of coal and kindling will be provided. There's also a TV, DVD player, books, maps and games. There is a very well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. There's a separate dining room, a twin bedroom and a WC with wash basin all on the ground floor. Upstairs is a double bedroom, a further twin bedroom and bathroom with electric shower, WC and wash basin. Downstairs also has a fabulous sun porch overlooking the garden - a great place to relax after a day's exploring! The cottage is double glazed throughout and has an electrical heating system as well as the log burning stove in the living room. As a traditional cottage, the stairs are rather steep and narrow so care should be taken at all times. There is large cultivated mature garden with further grounds surrounding the house. The cottage is situated up a lane off the road. There's free parking with room for two cars in the drive on our property. The cottage is 7 miles from Broadford, lovely little town with a beautiful bay and views to the mainland. It has a good variety of shops, artisan and craft outlets and a really excellent Co-Op supermarket, 24 hour garage and chemist, doctor, dentist etc. There are several restaurants and cafes etc etc. And there are two ATM cash machines, a Post Office and a mobile bank.

The perfect location
This cosy cottage is well-equipped and brilliantly located. We took full advantage of all that Skye has to offer: swimming several times at the lovely local beach, walking up the glens and hills - one of our party ticked off three Corbetts - visiting the Viking ship canal at Rubh An Dunain and the abandoned village of Suisnish, eating out at the Harbour Restaurant in Broadford and Eilean Iarmain Hotel and taking a boat trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk. Oh, and we went into Spar Cave (only accessible an hour before and an hour after low tide) and one of us ventured out to St Kilda, which is definitely not a trip for the faint-hearted! We had great weather, the midges mostly stayed away and the cottage was an ideal home from home to return to each day. We'd love to return!

Lovely skye
We had a lovely stay on beautiful Skye. The cottage was really well equipped with everything a family of four needed. The view from the hill through the back garden gate of the cullins was fantastic. The beach and blue shed cafe( open Thursday -sun) were only 10 mins walk. Remember to bring your midges spray!! And give plenty of time to travel. The sheep love to take over the roads, love them . We will return one day.

Lovely cottage, peace and quiet
Great cottage, well set up and lovely peaceful location. No tv or wifi while we were there - which might be a problem for some. Beautiful drive to Broadford and around the island. Very majestic views. Skye is well worth visiting

Fantastic base to explore Skye
The Skye cottage was beautifully set up, with everything we needed ( and more). Inside it was comfortable, lovely warm fire, and the owners had thoughtfully provided a range of basics in the well-equipped kitchen which was much appreciated. It’s in a lovely part of Skye, with easy access to nearby shops ( if you have a car, which you really need to see all Skye has to offer). There are great walks directly from the house, and nearby Broadford also has great restaurants. Highly recommended.

Perfect cottage
The cottage was just lovely, and wanted for nothing. It was warm in all senses of the word, comfortable, beautifully clean and tidy, very well equipped, easy, a great size for all of us, and with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Our host Caroline was also very friendly and helpful which made us feel very welcome. As did the welcome pack with coffee, tea, biscuits etc. We found the location to be just right too. Close enough to Broadford to get to the supermarket and (very good) fish and chip shop, but just far enough away to feel we were were "away". We loved the beach just 10 minutes walk from the cottage - had a lovely swim off silvery sands on our last evening. I'd be very happy to come back again and see more of Skye. Thank you.

A well equipped homely cottage an exellent base for exploring the island.
The cottage is well cared for with up to date amenities but also possesses alot of character. The garden is delightful and secluded. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful, there is also a small beach seven or eight minutes walk away. Broadford is nearby for groceries and supplies and of course the whole island with all of its spectacular scenery is accessible from Torrin. We will be back.

Perfect location, charming cottage, stunning weather!!!
What a treat! Yes, we were lucky with amazing weather...but even without the wall-to-wall sunshine, this would have been the ideal place to spend a week. Wonderful location which is a short trip from Broadford and gives easy access to all the other great places to visit. From the cottage turn left or right at the end of the lane and you can choose from loch side or sea shore for a daily stroll. The cafe sells the most delicious cakes, just ideal after a climb up the magnificent Bla Bheinn (Blaven). And did I write that the cottage has a splendid view of the aforementioned Munro? The cottage was delightful and prettily furnished.Ideally equipped kitchen. Brand new comfy beds with lovely linen and a large newly fitted family bathroom.Cosy sitting room with a woodburning stove (didn't need it) and a glorious little sunroom (used it all week). Did I mention the sun shone for a whole week?

Fabulous, comfortable accommodation in a traditional cottage- highly recommended.
I was the first person to stay in this lovely rural cottage in the village of Torrin which is on the road between Braodford and Elgol I had been in Torrin many times before and is location, near to Loch Slapin, in the lea of Blavin is really hard to match The house, which was originally a crofters house, has been tastefully and comfortably renovated whilst retaining many beautiful original features. It was warm and cosy and the beds were very comfortable! There is a sun porch with lovely views over the large rural garden which is great to have a morning coffee or drink in Everything that you need to start cooking, washing etc is supplied and the welcome pack is a lovely touch! There is good wifi too which is somwhat unusual in parts of the isl I loved staying there and we will certainly be back!!

Fantastic remote idyll
The cottage was stylish and artfully decorated. The owner had thought of everything we would need and it was to a high standard. The beds were comfy and the water was lovely to drink and wash in. The location, Torrin, was perfect for us. Off of the beaten track with a stunning loch nearby, but it felt essential to have a car. There were stunning walks nearby and a lot of useful books and guides for further afield. The host provided eggs, milk, bread and etc which was really appreciated after a long journey up from London. We would love to return.

About the neighbourhood
Torrin is a great base for relaxing, walking, climbing, cycling and bird watching. It is also on the road to Elgol where on a good day you can see the islands of Eigg, Rhum, Muck and spectacular views of the Cuillin mountain range. Boat trips run daily to the stunning and mysterious Loch Coruisk. You will see seals basking on the rocks as you sail in. You can chose to walk around the loch or walk back to Elgol over the notorious Bad Step - only possible for experienced walkers and climbers! Amy’s Cafe is 5 minutes walk down the road from the cottage. Brimming with fresh coffee, homemade soup and delicious home baking. Wonderful after a day on the hills or out exploring!
Getting around
We would highly recommend a car if you come to stay in our cottage. This will allow you access to the whole island as some places are quite remote and not accessible by bus. (There is a bus service from Broadford to Elgol which passes through Torrin)
