Set in a leafy lane in a conservation area near to the market town of Holmfirth, famous as the setting for the 'Last of the Summer Wine TV' series. It is ideally situated as a base to explore the Pennines, Peak District and Yorkshire Dales. We are a family of four and comfortably stayed in this well equpped cottage with postcard views that we enjoyed every morning over breakfast. Thankyou for a lovely home from home stay.More

We enjoyed our stay at Holmdale cottage very much. Situated quite high up overlooking delightful and interesting countryside. The cottage has everything you need for a short break.

Great to discover Dark Peak and West Yorkshire, short walks possible from the cottage. Within walking distance to local shops and takeaways, short drive to bigger shops in Huddersfield. Lovely view from the cottage, lovely seating areas in the small garden. The cottage offers everything...More

About the neighbourhood
The old traditional Pennine market town of Holmfirth is situated in the heart of the beautiful Holme Valley, on the edge of the Pennines, Peak District and southern Yorkshire Dales. The town is full of lovely old stone cottages and interesting narrow winding streets to explore, and has numerous festivals throughout the year which include exhibits in the fields of music and the arts. Holmfirth also has a good public swimming pool, parks, golf courses and some super independent shops and restaurants. Getting around
There are plenty of walks in the local area but the best way to see the Yorkshire and Pennine countryside is by car as the area is hilly, which gives it its character and of course, great views. If you are fit, the area is very popular with cyclists and is on the routes for the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire.

Holmdale Cottage is easily accessed from the motorway network with the closest access being the M62 which is only 6 miles away.A car is advised, not least to get around to see the beautiful countryside around the Peak District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines.The nearest railway station, Honley, is about a mile and a half away, and buses stop in the centre of the village, just 400 metres away. Parking is on the lane in front of the terrace of cottages. Please note that the property is accessed by a pedestrian path up a slope and is not suitable for the disabled or those with restricted mobility.
