What a setting, up a Scottish Glen, in front of a river, surrounded by trees, deer and not much else.
It was a perfect getaway, there is another rental cottage next door and one across the drive, all owned and operated by the same person, the son of the landowner, whom we met as he visited mid-week to make sure everything was OK.
Their Ghile Harry, was also very helpful. He passed by most days and ensured everyone was happy, gave good local advice, was really a great asset. He would have arranged fishing etc.
The cottage was well fitted out, there was no mobile signal up the glen but they had good satellite wifi (Highland WiFi) and a payphone in the property. You got your texts and signal back as you left the glen on the way to Liarg. This was not really and issue, we were on holiday but gave our relatives details of the landline phone in case they needed to contact us in the evening.
The only thing we would suggest is to have a bigger Fridge/Freezer in the kitchen. The under unit one didn't even have an ice box, there was only two of us and it was not big enough. Traveling to a remote location we had obviously stopped off at a supermarket in Inverness in the belief we would be mainly eating breakfast and evening meals in the property.
At the back of the property, in the laundry room, there were two small chest freezers, one for each property, perhaps to store the fish you caught or deer parts you shot and butchered!
Our fish was frozen, in a box, as was our ice cream!
There was therefore plenty frozen storeage, but a bigger FF in the property is required if there were 4 people staying.
Would we return to the area and cottage, Yes & Yes.
Would we recommend the property and owners, Yes & Yes
