Very nice property. Well laid out plenty of space, high quality furnishings and equipment. The only slight negative was the parking it took a couple of tries to get parked and not a lot of room once you had parked in the designated spot. Aside...More

Thank you for your lovely review and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Parking is quite tight, if you prefer you can park on the cobbles in front of St Oswald's Church or the triangle beside the seats. But we'll done for persevering!

Throughout the year, our beautiful home in Askrigg, North Yorkshire offers you the opportunity to spend time at the heart of one of Englands most magnificent landscapes. The cottage is located in the heart of upper Wensleydale in the picturesque village of Askrigg. In the 1970s this was the location for the village of Darrowby, which was the backdrop for the popular series,All Creatures Great and Small. The Old Mill cottages are tucked away in a quiet lane just off the main street, and are a stones throw from local amenities, including a general store, three public houses (all offering food) and the Village Kitchen, which provides home cooked takeaway meals, packed lunches, freshly baked bread, cakes, pies and much more.

Getting around
Here in the Yorkshire Dales we are very proud of our Little White Bus which offers regular transport to Hawes or Leyburn. See their website for more details.

Trains run from Garsdale or Ribblehead station to Leeds, Settle and Carlise.

Railway: Northallerton, Darlington or Garsdale: 50.0 km
Northbound from A1 - exit at Leeming Bar. Drive through, Bedale, and follow signs to Leyburn, then from there to Askrigg.

Southbound from A1 - exit at Scotch Corner and head towards Richmond. Follow signs for Leyburn. Do not go to Leyburn but continue to Redmire, Carperby, Nappa and then Askrigg.

From the North West there are several routes:

M6 Northbound/Southbound exit at Lancaster or Kendal turn off and head towards Sedburgh, Hawes and then Askrigg.
