Very thoughtful conversion that created a comfortable holiday home. The owners have clearly taken a lot of care in the way that this has been furnished and equipped. Extremely peaceful location and very friendly helpful hosts. Sheep and lambs were and added bonus.More

About the neighbourhood
Fantastic base to really explore Hadrian's Wall and the Northumberland National Park, England. An area of outstanding beauty and diversity, whilst still having the luxury of fewer tourists. Within one hour drive to The English Lake District, Scotland & the Northumberland Coast. Whilst closer to home steeped in history, we have Hadrian's Wall with some amazing forts, Roman sites & museums. Local to these parts the Border Reiver's from 1600's, tales of treachery, misfortune & feuding families. Our cottage dates back to these unforgiving times, and is built typically in Bastle House style, from the 1600's. You will be able to enjoy the rural idyll on our 500 acre farm, where you can wander and unwind.
Getting around
Because we are very rural the best way to explore ideally is by car, then you can stop off at your leisure. The nearest railway station is Haltwhistle, which can get you to Newcastle or Carlisle and stops in- between. We have the AD122 bus which travels along Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland, between April & October. Stopping at all the major Roman sites.
