Charming little house on two floors in the picturesque village of Gandria with partial view of the Lake of Lugano. Completely renovated with hand-made terra cotta floors, wood stove, new bathroom and nice kitchen. Fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, telephone, computer with free Internet access, ironing board, bed linen and towels. The name “Casa Parrucchiere” comes from the building’s use as a barbershop 100 years ago (sign still visible on facade). The house was owned by Swiss painter Fritz Meijer (1900-1969), who used it to exhibit his artwork. Outside the entrance is a “pergola” (arbor) and table for two shaded by grapevines. A little gem hidden away in a quaint village. We loved our stay here. Great hosts, nina went out of her way to accommodate us and gave us lots of local area info . Fantastic views,superb accommodation , great location.PERFECT !!!!

An excellent well equipped appartment in a wonderful situation in the small village of Gandria. Right in the centre - the appartment offers peace and quiet. Everyting you need is here and Nina has provided anexcellent package of information. Highly recommended

About the neighbourhood
Setting the scene Gandria is the last Swiss village on the road to Porlezza and Menaggio (Lake Como). The border with Italy runs across the lake just beyond the Swiss Customs Museum (orange building on the opposite bank). The peaks of the mountains opposite Gandria are already Italian territory, but the small buildings at the base are still Swiss – known as the Cantine di Gandria (cellars of Gandria). Wine, cheese and meat were stored there because of the year-round cool temperatures. This was the origin of the grotti (rustic restaurants), which can still be found along the path to Caprino.
