This cozy, and quiet casita is located a short walk away from Canyon Road and a close mile and a half from the plaza. A perfect getaway for a single traveler or couple, the casita is part of a compound built in the early 1900's and is an inviting example of classic, Santa Fe charm.
The Casita sits at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Brick floors and adobe walls throughout, paired with the working kiva fire place, offer a tangible window to Santa Fe’s unique architectural history. The location of the casita provides a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of town, but it’s proximity to some of the city’s main attractions makes it prime real-estate for experiencing both the tranquility and the playfulness of The City Different. Your casita has one bedroom with a queen size bed and the living room is equipped with a pullout sofa which can also accommodate an additional two people (there will be an additional $15 charge per person per night for reservations of more than 2 people). If you feel so inclined, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and there is a cozy, two person table, complete with bar stools, perfect for taking meals at home. The deck is a lovely place for morning coffee or evening drinks. For winter visitors, the gas stove provides ample heat, and the Santa Fe ski basin is a mere thirty minutes up the mountain. Whether your interests lie in art, food, outdoor recreation or just getting a taste for a new place, there is something for everyone here. With an average of 283 sunny days per year, there is never a bad time for a visit!
Guests will have access to the entire casita. Private entrance, single off street parking space (big enough for a normal car or standard SUV, if your vehicle is larger than that, contact us as we may be able to arrange a different space), and laundry. The casita is equipped with a smart lock and key lock box. Upon confirmation of your reservation you will receive a text from August Smart Lock. Alternately, a code for the lock box will be given prior to your arrival.
We will be available to help during your stay.
Situated a mere seven minutes walking from Canyon road, the best of Santa Fe art and dining is but a stones throw from your private residence. Meander down the hill for lunch at the Tea House and explore the wide variety of painting and sculpture in the many galleries and gardens gracing this pedestrian friendly part of Santa Fe. (With over a hundred galleries on Canyon road alone, Santa Fe boasts more galleries per capita than New York City!). Some of Santa Fe’s finest dining can be found here in the pocket of Canyon road as well. Explore the creative and contemporary cuisine of high end restaurants like The Compound and Geronimo. Or perhaps tapas are more your thing! Pop by El Farol on a Tuesday night and kick up your heals to one of the best blues jams around while you enjoy Spanish style tapas in a classic New Mexican atmosphere.
Once you’ve had your fill of Canyon road, a venture to the Santa Fe Plaza might be in order. (At a mile and a half from the Casita, you may choose to walk (25 min), drive (8 min) or catch the M bus). Spend the day shopping in the many boutiques, soaking in the history of the city center or enjoying an authentic, Northern New Mexican meal at one of the many downtown restaurants. If hiking is more your style, then not to worry- we’ve got that covered too! Some of Santa Fe’s most accessible hiking trails are just a mile up the hill from your residence! Check out the Atalya trail for epic panoramas of the incredible landscape you’ve gotten to know below. For guests with children, there is a lovely park and playground, also walking distance from the casita.
There are many walkable attractions, or the M bus line runs right near the casita. We would suggest having a car. There is a single off street parking space for a car no larger than a standard SUV; please pull all the way forward until your tires touch the parking stop. For cars larger than that, there is street side parking available.
If you will be using the sofa bed for sleeping and extra linens there will be an additional linen/cleaning fee of $25 per stay. Unless you are a group of 3, in which case, the additional cleaning is already included in your nightly price.
The landscaper comes on the 3rd Monday of each month usually between 1pm and 3pm to do a quick cleanup of the property and patios.
Permit #(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Help keep vacation rentals legal in Santa Fe by making sure the home you choose is permitted with the city! Rental agreement is between the booking guest and the property owner.
The casita does not have traditional cable, but is equipped with Amazon Prime and Netflix for movies and TV.
Please note: Access to this casita is up a small flight of stairs and there is a very small step to the bedroom and bathroom
