Overview
Townhouse -
3 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur
'Le Vieux Platane' is a Townhouse located on a square with an old plane tree (thus the name) on the Isle of L'Isle sur la Sorgue. It is tucked in the corner between two other properties on the edge of the square. A charming traditional property with exposed ceiling beams, blue shutters, exposed stone facade and a little terrace at the front. Please note the terrace is screened with plants but is not a 'private terrace'.

It has 3 bedrooms which sleeps four or less very comfortably. There is a single bathroom (2 toilets). Ideal for a family with children over 5 years of age. The property has two flights of stairs.

The kitchen is small but perfectly formed and contains an oven, gas cooktop, convection/microwave, washing machine and a good sized fridge.

The practical shower room with toilet is located on the first floo...

Location in old part of town is excellent. 3 minute walk to bakeries and shops, 5 minute walk to good small supermarket. We had a car and parked in nearby free community lots or on street, but a person could get by here without a...More

We were drawn to the property by the photo of the outdoor garden table. We expected lit to be in quiet space in back. Instead, it overlooked parking lot. We never used . Area around table needs to be cleaned up. On the otherhand, plenty...More

Hi Alice Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry you were disappointed by the lack of a terrace at the back of the property. The description does state "a little terrace at the front". We, and most of our guests,...More

Wonderful, informal 3br apt in a convenient location in L'isle. Well-furnished with comfortable beds. My only complaint is one bathroom for three bedrooms, but there is a powder room on the first floor. Plenty of charm and practicality!

Thank Mary B

About the neighbourhood
Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famous for its graceful waterways and antique markets which give this chic town its character and atmosphere. The isle; was created when the River Sorgue was split into canals ploughed by water wheels powering the paper and silk mills in the 18th century. On a Sunday morning, the quays, main streets and narrow side streets are swamped with antique and brocante stalls, as well as the heady olfactory sensations of traditional Provencal fare changing as you move through the market. The town, despite its modest size (around 17 000 inhabitants), has the biggest collection of antique dealers outside Paris, and art galleries too, reminding us of the areas Impressionist roots (there is even a sculpture of a discarded ear thrown into the river!).The town has a healthy selectio... more

How to get there
There are airports at Avignon AVN (Caumont), Marseille-Provence MRS (Marignan), Lyon-Saint Exupéry LYS and Nice NCE. Nice and Lyon are the furthest but are served by long haul flights. For example, Australians can efficiently fly via Dubai direct to Nice or Lyon. The Autoroute du Soleil (A7) runs through nearby Avignon and Cavaillon. From the south exit at Cavaillon and the Isle is directly north. You can bypass Cavaillon centre by taking the road next to the river to the west of the town as soon as you cross the river after leaving the autoroute. From the north, take exit 24 which serves Aéroport Caumont, Châteaurenard, L Isle sur la Sorgue and Apt. Head east on the D900 and either go through the village of Caumont-sur-Durance or head further east to the D938 Route de Cavaillon (longer bu... more
