The condo is very well equipped. Every thing was here that we needed for a week's stay. The facilities are dated but that is reflected in the price. Would stay here again.

Nice older 1 bedroom condo on Ali'i Dr just to the south of Kona town, close to airport, shopping, restaurants and numerous beaches in a gated complex with meticulous grounds in a peaceful and quiet setting. There is a stunning view of sunset every night near the pool (a hidden secret) ...no need to go anywhere to watch the sunset; we loved walking down to the coffee shop nearby in the mornings or just to go for a walk...be careful when walking on Ali'i Dr, keep your eyes open as it can be heavy with traffic and distracted drivers. Unit 5104 is lower level and has a comfortable king size bed and comes with stocked kitchen and is fully furnished with all the other creature comforts like a/c, HD TV, good WIFI, etc..... There are gas grills by the pool as well as a play area for the kids with ping pong table and mini snack bar. Parking is free and ample and the gates are closed at night so very safe. Owner Janet was quick to respond to questions and was very accessible. Price is reasonable and allot less than you'd pay in a overcrowded noisy resort. Rental car is a must to get around in but there is a daily trolley that goes to Kona town and back free of charge. I'm giving it a 5 star for just the price alone, unit does need a bit of updating/upgrading but is comfortable and was not a deal breaker for us, you won't regret it. We will return. ALOHA !!

Great location! I was able to cook breakfast everyday as the kitchen is stocked well with pots, pan, dishes, and utensils! There are coolers for the beach or hikes, which came in handy! I hope to be welcome here again as it was nice to have a place that was like being at home when I was so far away from home.

This is an older but very well kept and nicely furnished condo complex just south of the Kailua Kona business district. The unit itself does not have a direct view of the ocean, but the lanai is large and overlooks a very well kept common area leading down to the pool and a beautiful sitting and grilling area below the pool area just right above the lava rock coast. I have a bad back, so I really appreciated the very comfortable king bed and the minimum number of steps and stairs. The kitchen is adequately equipped with most of the items you would need.

We stayed at the Kona Makai for 10 full days. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for a quiet, clean and close to most everything as you recharge from your adventures, this is definitely the place! The condo was probably the most well stocked condo we've stayed at in Hawaii. They even had a binder with the manuals to all of the appliances!!! It has a small ocean view from both lanai's, but the better of the two is from the kitchen. If you want to feel the spray of the ocean, take a one/two minute walk to the bulkhead in the front of the complex with beverage in hand and relax on the chaise lounges. Had the most amazing sunsets AND one of the four Monk Seals on the Big Island decided to chill on the lava rock in front! You are a brief 30 minute drive from Two Steps to the south and a 30 minute drive to Kua Beach to the north. We never took it but the trolley drives right in front of the complex to take you down Ali'i drive. All in all a wonderful vacation! Mahalo for sharing your hale with us!

Area location was great, enough south of the hustle of Kona businesses but walkable , a short drive(2 minutes if that) or use trolley to get there. Condo was well stocked, clean and you can't beat the price. Ocean view from one lanai. Ocean can be entered when not high surf right from the property. Pretty grounds, nice pol and BBQ. Quiet, peaceful condo grounds ,manager Bud friendly. I highly recommend and will stay there again on my next trip to Kona Owners do a great job communication and have things well organized.

Great place to stay. Clean and well equipped, close to everything, comfortable bed and welcome trade wind breezes. Plenty big enough for a vacation rental.

This apartment was a safe and comfortable base for our day trips to see the Big Island. It is in a group of buildings surrounding a pool and patio. The apartment has a lanai on opposite sides. The kitchen is well suited for independent dining, with large refrigerator, four-burner stove, microwave, coffee maker, and just about every kitchen implement and plate, cup, and bowl a person is likely to need. There is a tub and shower, a TV with plenty of channels, dependable WiFi, and king bed. Parking is free and we never had trouble finding a spot. The building is conveniently located on Ali'i Drive, within walking distance of the Kailua shops and within a short drive of public beaches and the Keauhou Shopping Center, with grocery, pharmacy, post office, bookstore, and movie theater. The apartment is on the first floor, a welcome level for people with luggage. One drawback: the bedroom is adjacent to the buildings' driveway; if you like to sleep late, you might be annoyed by morning traffic. The noises helped wake us up to see Hawaii.

A great condo. The owner supplies bath towels, beach towels, snorkelling gear and more. Quiet location. It is possible to walk into Kona and to the beach as we did in the cooler parts of the day. But usually it was more comfortable to drive. A bit far in the heat of the day. Ample parking for our hire car.

This condo unit is clean and has a washer/dryer. The AC works great and it has a nice kitchen. The view on the lanai is of the lawn and the building on the other side of the lawn. If you lean over the railing on the lanai, you can get a glimpse of the water. The place was real quiet during my 3 day stay. But to do over, I would, as I usually do, try to get a unit closer to the water with an ocean view. For a little bit more, it is probably worth it to do so. When I read the review about one set of folks making their 7th visit to the unit, it sounded better than it was. Also, it wasn't walking distance to downtown so there was no real benefit to foregoing a unit with an ocean view if you have to get in the car and find parking in Kona town.
