Interaction with guests
There is so much to do in New Orleans that your days will be full! Your apartment is separate and we respect your time and privacy, yet because this is our home, we are available in our unit downstairs. We will meet you and give a brief tour to acquaint you with our home. There is information in your apartment about the home's history and our renovations. We have also written recommendations for food, activities and tours that you can review whenever you like. If you prefer a more personal touch, we really enjoy meeting the interesting people who stay with us and visiting about which local attractions are don't- miss!

About the neighbourhood
Our neighborhood was an early example of a luxury suburb, established in the 1840's on land that had been the Livaudais Plantation. It was dubbed the 'Garden District' by travel writers as early as 1852 and has not only grand antebellum residences but more modest homes in many sizes and styles. The neighborhood is roughly bounded by Magazine St, Josephine, Carondolet and Delachaise St., as defined by the Historic District Landmarks Commission.
Getting around
Uber, Streetcar and buses can get you about everywhere in the city. Consider a car if you want to visit the plantations on the river or go into cajun country for a 'deeper dive' into southern Louisiana culture. Otherwise, a car is truly unnecessary and most of the interesting areas of New Orleans have quite limited parking. Our streetcars are a wonderful experience of rolling history, not to be missed. They run along the most-frequented corridors and allow you to gaze at the sites (instead of the road and other cars!) Uber has become the quickest, most convenient and affordable way to travel from doorstep to doorstep. You can also feel good about supporting local residents and students when you use this option.
