LOCATED in the heart of 'Mt Airy' -- the 'Philadelphia's best neighborhood' according to Money magazine. That says a lot, as there are about 110 neighborhoods in Philadelphia! This leafy, vibrant, engaged community includes the city's first bird sanctuary, popular cafe that was featured in Oprah's magazine, independent bookstore, architectural salvage emporium, dance and yoga studios, pioneering food co-operative, old trees, young energy and beautiful stone architecture. (Wikipedia says it's a PhD ghetto) We are a few minutes from the interstate freeway, and 15-18 minutes from downtown ('Center City') by car, or 20 min. by train. (We use trains here the way other cities use subways. You can take the train directly to the historic district, the convention center, Chinatown, Old City...

THIS HOME is spacious -- 2,000 sq ft (!) + a large, furnished 2nd floor terrace. The home is the full 2nd floor of a two-story bldg. ) Downstairs are two studios.) It has two bedrooms + a den. One bdrm has a queen bed and windows on three sides. A second bdrm has twin trundle bed(s) and a private bathrm with a skylight. The den has a full bed and windows on two sides... it hasn't a conventional door but the bed is tucked around to the side and not visible from the adjacent room.
A MAGAZINE called this home 'funky charming' -- it is relaxed and appealing, not Hilton-spiffy by any means. The floors are several hundred years old, from virgin forest, so no hard-soled shoes or pointy heels, please. Piano, drums, access to downstairs studios. A few times a week, sounds from downstairs can be heard upstairs, notably the samba drum class on Sunday (12:30-2 pm) and Thursday (6:30-8 pm). You can take the class too.
FULL KITCHEN includes dish and servingware. Terrace has a BBQ. Fireplace works. In winter, we will provide a modest supply of wood.
FAMILIES welcome -- we have cradle, Pac n Play, stroller, high chair, booster chair and lots of well selected toys. Children's music class downstairs weekly. A small public playground is across the street.
FREE AMPLE street parking.
CLOSE to the woods (three blocks away!), chef-owned restaurants, the walkable neighborhoods of Manayunk and Chestnut Hill, ice skating rink, golf course, fishing -- even though we are truly Philadelphia proper.
CLEANING FEE is one-time $30 -- and is included in the automatic calculation provided.

About the neighbourhood
Philly has about 110 neighborhoods -- Money Magazine deemed Mt Airy the 'best neighborhood' in Philadelphia. Harvard has studied its success, Oprah's magazine did a feature on why this is such an exceptional neighborhood too. It is leafy, with beautiful architecture and an engaged community. 15-18 minutes to downtown. We're three blocks to Carpenter Woods, a fingerling of the Wissahickon Valley and Fairmount Park, and home of the city's first bird sanctuary. Wikipedia calls Mt Airy a 'PhD ghetto'. Walkable too.
Ample free parking here. We're close to downtown Philly by car or train (which we use like a subway). My building is in the epicenter of 'Mt Airy Village', -- a heart of this neighborhood ... directly across the street from the brilliantly stocked food co-op, the Nesting House (for young families), High Point Cafe and Big Blue Marble bookstore -- plus the WPM (words per minute) Typewriter Shop is right downstairs. We're within two or three miles of many local-chef restaurants, cobblestoned Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill, a golf course, collectible kitchenware shop, playground, woods and more.
