About the neighbourhood
Sandy Mush is an incredibly beautiful area of the world. We have travelled to various parts of the world and though there are areas that match this area in beauty, none surpass it. Fall is splendid with color, winters are mild, spring comes early with a profusion of wild flowers. Evenings in the summer are cool. The Sandy Mush Creek brings a wonderful sound and feel. The people in the area are friendly. They actually wave when they see you on the highway! All this is only thirty minutes from downtown Asheville - a city full of great restaurants, theatre, festivals, and live music.
How to get there
In Asheville get on Patton Avenue, turn onto Hwy 63 - The New Leicester Highway. Go approximately 15 miles until you see Reeves Gorcery ( a small country store) on your left and a state sign 'Entering Madison County Leaving Buncome County' on your right. Cross over county line and a small concrete bridge. Take your first paved road (one short city block from bridge) on the left. This is Sandy Mush Creek Road. Chestnut Cottage is 335 Sandy Mush Creek Road - on the left of the road prior to a long line of 15 foot cedar trees.
