Condo/Apartment
A quiet place on the Big Island, our light and airy studio offers island charm and local flavor. The studio was our home while we built our house on the property, so we know how comfortable it will be for you. Perfect central location for exploring the East side of the Big Island - Hilo town, Volcano village, Punalu'u beach and snorkeling, Pahoa town, parks, botanical gardens, waterfalls and zip lines, Hilo beaches, and Mauna Kea night skies. The queen sofa bed has a memory foam mattress, which makes it considerably more comfortable than the average sofa bed. It can accommodate up to 2 people, but it is the usual 8 inches shorter than a standard queen bed. The full kitchen has a stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee press and grinder, a microwave, toaster oven and water filter....A quiet place on the Big Island, our light and airy studio offers island charm and local flavor. Guests who have needed to work while they were here have said that it is a great setting, as you can use your laptop inside or on the back porch. High-speed internet and WiFi have been sufficient for their needs. You may share our one acre property, affectionately called our 'orchardette'. So far we have lemon, grapefruit, orange, tangerine, fig, avacado, and guava trees, which you are welcome to pick from, if they are ripe when you are here. A small washer and dryer are on the porch for your use. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: TA104-172-1344-01More

Interaction with guests
We like to greet our guests when they arrive and can socialize as time allows. We try to give out our homegrown and homemade guava jam when they leave.

About the neighbourhood
We are in a small community called Happy Homes - the first subdivision in the state. The oldest home still standing was built in 1923. Located in middle Puna, it is centrally located to all the good stuff in East Hawaii. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is 20 minutes away. A little further down the other side of the hill is the black sand Punalu'u Beach Park, good for swimming, snorkeling, and turtle watching. The newest beach (compliments of the 2018 lava eruption) is Pohoiki beach park. Drive the scenic Red road. Uncle Roberts is a must every Wednesday night. If you enjoy local farmer's markets, the Maku'u Market is on Sunday only, but worth the wait. $2 / car admission. Hilo farmer's market - Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Getting around
Must have a car to get around.
