The 10,000 square foot Castino Lakeview Mansion sits high atop a bluff with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. It's just steps down to the expansive beach and marina, with sand volleyball nets and fire pits. The house combines the feel of yesteryear's opulence with all the modern amenities. The home was built in 1912 by coal and shipping baron JP Reiss of the Great Lakes, and he spared no expense. The features include mahogany trim, barreled dining room ceiling, and ornamental plasters, along with iron, stone and brickwork. There are 9 bedrooms in the main house, including a variety of bunks and sleeper sofas, so can comfortably sleep a combination of children and adults up to a total of 24. WOW
This beautifully positioned stately home within walking distance to town and the lake front is an experience everyone should have. From start to finish the owner makes renting this mansion super easy. She is quick to respond, honest and communicates well. The home itself is a nice mix between the old and the new. The decorating is eclectic and every time you walk into a room you discover something new. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. When sleeping you can't hear the noise from the rest of the house. The house is so large yet perfect. Lots of space to find a quiet corner to read a book or relax and large gathering space(s) to enjoy the company of others. The downstairs bar, entertaining area is perfect for those late night rowdy crowd gatherings and the expanded veranda has perfect views of the lake and a cozy corner with "firepit" for conversation. It is like stepping into someone's home for the weekend. The house is supplied with everything and then some. You should not hesitate to stay here-you won't regret it. The small town of Sheboyagan has fantastic eateries as well. Just Lovely.

About the neighbourhood
There's plenty to do in Sheboygan, selected as the number one place to raise a family in America by Bloomberg's Business Week and Reader's Digest. It's also known as the 'Malibu of the Midwest,' and Surf Sheboygan is an appropriate motto! Wind surfing, yolo boarding, kite surfing, motor boating, sailing, charter fishing and good old fashioned swimming are great ways to take advantage of Mother Nature's gift. Want to go exploring by water? We have 4 kayaks available for your use. Three blocks south on the lakefront is an exceptional YMCA, and a mile down on the lakefront is an indoor water park with day passes available year round. Near the water park is a row of boutiques, and across the way is the river walk, with restaurants/bars, shops and fishermen (and their catches) galore. Heading west from the mansion is the quaint yet full-service town of Sheboygan. The Weil Performing Arts Center, the Kohler Arts Center and a fabulous children's museum are just a brisk walk away. Plenty of fine dining options as well as grub pub are also within walking distance and certainly within biking distance. We have 6 bikes on the premises for your use, with additional bikes available through local rental shops. Hiking at the Kohler State Park is another active endeavor, along with cross country skiing on the trails in town. If golf is your thing, this is the place for you! Our location is extremely convenient for accessing world class golf, including The American Club at Kohler, The Bull and Whistling Straits. Road America Racing in Elkhart Lake is nearby. And the list goes on! The bottom line is that there is plenty to do, with a welcoming, charming and relaxing home to return to at night. You can throw burgers on the grill, order out for pizza, or hire a local chef to cater your meals for the ultimate in relaxation. There's something for everyone--from swimming to golf, from spas to sports! You'll feel like royalty as well as right at home at the mansion. Come enjoy this unique get-away with family, on a corporate retreat, with your golfing buddies--the possibilities are endless!
