Sunset Beach Haven - Winter sunset looking at the Olympic Mountains
Between the ocean on one side and Swantown Lake, every room has a water view.
Sunset Beach Haven has breathing room and separation from its side neighbors.
The interior is up to date, yet retains the charm of the original cabin.
The Living Room and deck seem to float above the water, and the stunning views.
Seating for up to six at the table.
Good counter for such a compact design. Full-sized fridge, range, and microwave.
The San Juan Island are visible to the northwest. Miles of beach to walk at low and mid-tide.
Views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains.
Access to the beach is boulder scrambling (at your own risk) or easier for some 3 lots down.
Every night should start like this.
Comfy pillow-top queen bed in the Master Bedroom.
Two twins in the second bedroom, views toward Swantown Lake and the ocean.
A Porta Crib and High Chair are available to use, if you fit in them...
Full bath: soaps, towels, shampoo provided.
View from deck at sunset reflected in Great Room windows.
Love to storm watch? Book a winter stay. Can be calm or can be crazy exciting with a front row seat.
Nearby Ebey's Landing provides some of the best hiking and beach combing around.
Another favorite spot - Deception Pass, fog lifting during a family hike.
Admiralty Head lighthouse at Fort Casey. One of several sights not to be missed.

Sunset Beach Haven is proud to announce joining the Mattson Family and Sandpiper Haven (FlipKey no. 445651), our successful Waterfront Vacation Rental Property just 10 minutes to the south. Sunset Beach Haven, to coin one of our Guests, is 'seriously waterfront' - you just can't get much closer than this to the beach and ocean - it is located directly on famous West Beach and greets each day with beautiful views of ships, seals, otters, and occasionally whales playing in the water, and of the snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains rising in the distance across the waters of Admiralty I...

About the neighbourhood
Sunset Beach Haven is really 'Heaven' to us - we love the beauty, peace, and comfort of this beautiful home on the dramatic west side of Whidbey Island. We enjoy the quick access to the beach where our boys spend hours trolling the beach or in summertime exploring tide pools at low tide. In addition to literally miles of beach to walk (late spring through early fall as wintertime high tides can make it harder), Sunset Beach Haven is a great jumping off point to exploring so much of what Whidbey has to offer- nature, biking, hiking, whale watching, fishing, kayaking, and even some nice restaurants, wine tasting, shops etc.
Getting around
Whidbey Island is mostly rural forests inter-spaced with farmlands. There is private airport shuttle to Sea-Tac Airport, and a transit system on the island run by Island County, but a car is highly recommended for ease of access. Consider bringing a bicycle as well. Peter's first visit to Whidbey was during a summer vacation during high school when he rode my bicycle through the northern half of the island on the way to the San Juan Islands. It's fun to bring bikes but a car is recommended.
Car advised
How to get there
Airport: Sea-Tac Airport: 175.0 km
Ferry: Mukilteo-Clinton: 60.0 km
One of the unique aspects of our location on West Beach is that if coming from Everett, Seattle, or South, you can choose to take the Mukilteo Ferry and drive 2/3 the way up Whidbey Island, or you can choose to take the Deception Pass Bridge near Anacortes and drive south about 1/3 down the island. You can also cross at Port Townsend on the Coupeville Ferry. Traffic, ferry waits, and your idea of what to see and explore play into your decision on which way to go as both are about equal travel time. We are roughly 2.25-2.5 hours from Sea-Tac airport, depending on traffic.
