CASA HIBISCUS: Convenient location in quiet Muneco neighborhood at the foot of Mt. Resaca. 20 minute walk/5 minute drive to town and ferry, 3 minute drive to grocery. 6 minute drive to Flamenco Beach. Private use of home. Cold wall ACs in each bedroom, ceiling fans and tower fans in every room. Shoes, flip flops, and sandals are not allowed inside the house. Sand is not allowed inside. Covered back patio with comfortable seating, rocking chairs, hammock, mini-fridge to keep some cold beverages handy :-), BBQ grill/smoker, access to outdoor shower. Upstairs sun and star gazing deck with lounge chairs right off the lounge area. Upstairs balcony patio directly off the bedroom with the king bedrooms. THE KITHEN: The kitchen is fully equipped for all your dining and entertaining needs. We provide a full sized refrigerator, full sized gas stove, toaster oven, microwave, electric coffee machine, blender, toaster, plates, bowls, flatware, glassware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, knife butcher block set and many more kitchen amenities for you to discover. THE BEDROOMS: There are two bedrooms downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. One of the downstairs bedroom has two extra long twins beds and one bedroom downstairs has a large queen bed. One bedroom upstairs has a large king bed and one bedroom upstairs has a full sized bed with a memory foam mattress. Each bed is customized for your comfort with extra pillows and throw blankets. Casa Hibiscus can sleep 10 with a queen elevated comfortable airbed with built-In electric pump. THE BATHROOMS: One downstairs bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. One upstairs bathroom with large glass block and tile shower, vanity sink and toilet. THE BEACH GEAR: We have many beach amenities including beach towels, beach blankets, beach chairs, beach coolers and lots of beach toys. THE UPSTAIRS LOUNGE: In our lounge we have a 32 inch Smart TV, Smart Blu-Ray Player, Netflix, lots of dvds and blu-ray movies for all ages, scrabble, chess, backgammon, cards, dominos, books and a nice Bluetooth Sound Bar. THE FANS: Casa Hibiscus has a ceiling fans in every room of the house. We also provide oscillating tower fans in every room of the house. All the fans keep a nice tropical breeze blowing throughout Casa Hibiscus. THE ACS: Casa Hibiscus has air conditioners in each of the four bedrooms to enjoy a cool nights sleep. THE PROPERTY: Our property is a slice of paradise on Culebra. Location is in the quite neighborhood of Muneco at the bottom of Mt. Resaca. Casa Hibiscus is at the end of a small road which offers lots of privacy. The back of the property faces a dry river bed. Lots of privacy. THE OUTDOOR SHOWER: After a day at the beach there is a nice outdoor shower to rinse off or to just take a nice shower with hot and cold water. The outdoor shower is located at the back of the house just off the back patio. When I am at Casa Hibiscus I only shower in the outdoor shower because it is so relaxing and nice to do :-). Many guests tell me they do the same. JUST FOR ENJOYMENT: Enjoy a quiet evening on the front patio swinging in the hammock or entertain on the back patio while grilling up your favorite recipes. Charcoal combo grill/smoker is provided. Just bring charcoal and your ready for a fun evening barbequing and reminiscing about your days adventures. I just love doing this at Casa Hibiscus. The beauty and simplicity of the island will leave you reminiscing each day while relaxing at humble Casa Hibiscus. NOTE: the WIFI/Internet is high speed and excellent! There can be times when it is very slow in all over Culebra. Once in a great while it just doesn't work at all throughout the whole island. For these time we have lots of blu-ray movies and games to kick back with if internet goes down :-) or even if it doesn’t go down :-). GUEST ACCESS: Full private access to entire home with all amenities including 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 downstairs patios, 1 upstairs sun deck/patio and 1 small balcony -Flamenco Beach is 6-8 minutes (2.5 miles) by car or 10-12 minutes by golf cart from the house. -The closest grocery is a quick 3 minute drive. -Downtown is a lovely 20-30 minute walk or 5-6 minute drive, where you will find the center of town, the ferry port, shopping, restaurants, light nightlife, post office, bank, ATM, gasoline and grocery stores. -Airport is a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk. Relax...enjoy...have fun at Casa Hibiscus.

Shoes are not allowed inside. Smoking is not allowed inside. Sand is not allowed inside the house or showers inside. Only registered guests are allowed on the property. Air conditioners are for sleeping at night only. Do not bring any used sandy beach towels inside. Do not leave food out. Quiet time is 10pm. If the kitchen is left dirty there will be a $75 cleaning fee deducted from your deposit. Remove all trash. Check-out time is 11 am or earlier. There is $75 late checkout fee.

We loved it!!

Perfect vacation home for a group of 8!! The house is perfectly located. Even though there's no water view, since we spent all of our days by the water, we didn't need it. The house is an easy golf-cart ride to the beach. When you are at the house it feels as if you are on the country side surrounded by lots of vegetation. There was even a natural butterfly garden hiding in the back yard! Everything was neat and clean. The communication from the house keeper and the owner was always on point. On New Year's Eve, the house keeper surprised us with three bottles of champagne!!! Thank you Sally and Dawn!!

Excellent place

My friends and I love the place. It is very comfortable, cozzy and clean. It very spacious and very relaxing. I would 100% recommend the place and definately would stay here again. The owner and caretaker are amazing.

About the neighbourhood

Casa Hibiscus is a bright airy tropical house which will feel like your home away from home. My home is located at the end of a small street in a quiet neighborhood. It is a little slice of paradise in Culebra. Located just 5 minutes by car from Flamenco Beach, 5 minutes by car from town and just 3 minutes to the nearest grocery store. Enjoy a quiet evening on the front patio swinging in the hammocks or entertain on the patio while grilling up your favorite recipes. I provide beach chairs, beach towels and a soft sided cooler for your beaching adventures. I welcome you to come and explore. The beauty and simplicity of the island will leave you reminiscing each day while relaxing at Casa Hibiscus.

Getting around

I recommend renting a golf cart or a jeep from Jerry's Jeep, Carlos Jeep or ATV Golf Cart Rentals. If renting a vehicle is not in your itinerary there are taxis available. In fact my neighbor has a wonderful taxi van service or you can walk to the right of entrance of the airport, about a 10 minute walk, and flag down a taxi.

How to get there

To get to Culebra you can hop a 30 minute flight from San Juan Airport, PR or Isla Grande Airport, PR or you can catch a 1-2 hour ferry from Ceiba, PR. Ceiba is about 70 minutes from San Juan. There is now a fast ferry from Ceiba. On Oct 29, 2018 all ferries will be departing from Ceiba only. Once you arrive in Culebra you can take a taxi or meet your vehicle rental agents at the ferry port. Casa Hibiscus is located in the Muneco sector of Culebra about 8-10 minutes from the ferry and 3-5 minutes from the airport. You can ask the taxi to take you to Casa Hibiscus next to Xavier, the taxi driver's house. The jeep/golf cart rental agencies can give you directions. Casa Hibisicus is also known to the island as Jim Galasso's old family home.
