Holiday Rental House
Welcome to Chez Alouette, this beautiful Jonzac town house is only 3 minutes walk from the town centre which has a great atmosphere, quaint cobbled streets, a busy covered market, restaurants and bars, the house is located in a very quiet side street and virtually next door to Château de Jonzac. Although in the centre of town, the house backs onto open countryside, with tremendous views from the terrace and private garden, affording complete privacy, peace and tranquillity. The beauty of staying at Chez Alouette is that if you want a quiet time in the country, then just shut the doors and enjoy the views and tranquillity of the terrace and back garden. Although you are in the centre of town it really is like being in the middle of the countryside! However if you do want to enjoy some love...Welcome to Chez Alouette, this beautiful Jonzac town house is only 3 minutes walk from the town centre which has a great atmosphere, quaint cobbled streets, a busy covered market, restaurants and bars, the house is located in a very quiet side street and virtually next door to Château de Jonzac. However if you do want to enjoy some lovely restaurants, a Jazz Bar or similar, then you are merely a 2-3 minute walk! Mid summer is very busy with free concerts, theatre productions and many other events organised by the town and surrounding areas including a weekly music night market which is attended by hundreds, dining and dancing the night away! Jonzac is unique, a historical spa town and health resort, the season for holidaymakers is 10 months per year, therefore whenever you visit our lovely home, there is always something to do! A beautiful Château, a historic Romanesque Church, an area of outstanding beauty and religious importance, Jonzac is the jewel in the crown of the French west coast. With the Atlantic resorts and surfing beaches only 45 minutes drive, or Bordeaux a similar distance, there are plenty of popular and famous places to visit, especially on the Gironde estuary such as St Fort sur Gironde, Mortagne sur Gironde, Talmont sur Gironde, St Georges de Didonne with its wonderful beach, or Royan itself. Further up the coast is Le Tremblade with its wild Atlantic sandy beaches and quaint oyster and mussel shed industry, a little higher up the vibrant town of La Rochelle and close by the beautiful islands of Isle de Re and Isle d’Oleron. Turning inland, the pretty town of St Jean d’Angely, the historic town of Saintes plus the world renowned town of Cognac, the birthplace of French Brandy…. so much to see and do - the location is perfect. Location, location, location... an often over utilised cliché.....but in this case it is absolutely true! ***Notes on accommodation*** The house generates a welcoming 'home from home' feel the moment you walk in the front door, providing very comfortable accommodation in which to enjoy your holiday. An original centuries old historic property, it has been thoughtfully and tastefully restored and refurbished in February 2013, retaining many of its original features. Chez Alouette has all the facilities you will need for a relaxing holiday. The outside is brought into the house by the south facing, elevated terrace, which is on the same level as the reception/kitchen. It is a great outside space, and the garden offers seclusion and a great place to relax. All amenities are close by in the town so if you choose to skip cooking and extend the sunbathing, then there are an excellent choice of restaurants merely minutes away! A cot and high chair is available subject to advance notice, a movable stair gate is provided. Outside: Although in the centre of the town, Chez Alouette is a very peaceful retreat. With its own secure (fenced), south facing garden, you can enjoy tranquil days and evenings in complete privacy. The pretty garden shaded by a fig tree, has all the facilities you could wish for, on the raised terrace an outside gas barbecue, seating in the shade of a large sun parasol, plus a dining/relaxation area. Below, accessed by steps is the garden and lawn, which also has a patio area for seating and dining, plus sun loungers, thus ensuring you enjoy your holiday, whatever time of the year. More

Jonzac is a good centre for exploring the Charentes area of France and the Medoc wine region, via ferries from Blaye or Royan. Chez Alouette is right in the old centre of Jonzac, next door to the chateau with views from its deck out over...More

Thank you Rose for your review. Yes typically most provincial French towns are closed Sunday and Monday, something to which us brits are unaccustomed! But maybe that is what makes France so unique. A shame it affected your review score, but we do try to...More
