There is a rock walk leading into the home and another porch at the entrance. Large rockers sit on the back porch and a small dining table is on the back porch that overlooks a mountain. Very few lights are visible in the night sky. There is a picnic table on the front entrance porch. The kitchen has all new General Electric stainless steel appliances and is fully furnished with refrigerator,stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Dishes, pots, pans, blender, toaster and grill are provide.. There is a 32 inch flat screen tv with a DVD Player with Satellite TV. We now have WIFI The first floor of the home has a combined living room, kitchen, a full bath and bedroom with a poster queen sized bed. The cabin has hardwood floors throughout. The living room has an oriental rug, a camel back sofa and upholstered chair. There is a dry stacked hearth with an electric fireplace with remote. In the kitchen/living room combination there is a small table with four chairs. The 2 bedroom home has an open construction with a loft above the living room and a bedroom and half bath. This bedroom lies to the left of the steps and has rails on one side. There is a half bath and a sitting area with a love seat and chair on the second floor. All Linens supplied. Great kitchen. The home is minutes from the Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Wildlife Area. Crooked Creek includes six miles of trout streams (some sections are stocked) plus 1,600 acres of mountain land available for hunting deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrels and grouse. The area is home to the New River Trail which is recognized as one of the top ten mountain bike trails in the United States. You can hike, bike or ride horses along the New River. The New River Trail is approximately 15 minutes from the cabin. State Parks are open .Close to many mountain cultural events, we hope you will chose us for your visit to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Also nearby is the Blue Ridge Mountain Music Center, the Hillsville Va. Labor Day Flea Market, the Galax Fiddler's Convention and many numerous events. You are only a stone's throw from Mt. Airy which is the home of Andy Griffith. Click 'Information about the Area'. The Rex Theater in Galax offers live Mountain Music. Note: Cell Phone Signals are Sketchy--Your in the mountains. 'The surrounding environment was peaceful and the perfect place to relax. The house was well stocked and the bed was deliciously comfortable! ' Come to the mountains. Cut off the cell phone and unplug. Bike , hike, canoe on the New River, golf, fish, ride horse or float down a river. Return to a simpler way of life. Location: 1/2 hour from Mt. Airy, NC, 1 hour from Winston - Salem, NC, 1 1/2 hours from Greensboro, N.C.and 2 hours from Charlotte, NC. Virginia Tech and Radford University are only an hour away. Fernwood Cabin is for anyone wanting to get away from it all. Escape from the congestion of modern day living. Sit on a porch, look at the stars and enjoy a simpler way of life. Cabin was very quiet and relaxing. Stove & hot water breakers were off & we had to figure out where the breaker box was to turn on. For future renters I would recommend that you check out the cabin upon arrival to make sure there...More

Great Getaway!

We had a wonderful vacation at Fernwood Cabin! Our hostess did everything possible to make our visit relaxing and memorable. Highly recommend, and hope to return someday!

Wonderful

Totally relaxing for us

Relaxing Mountain Retreat
