The Tree Tops Cottages is a small family friendly resort is located on the Southern end of South Hero on a private 7+ acre property with over 920 feet of direct frontage on Lake Champlain. Until recently, it was a family compound and select location for close friends. Originally built in the 1930's, there are only four cottages on the whole 7.5 acre property. It may be possible to rent 2, 3 or 4 cottages at the same time for a family reunion. Multiple generational families have been coming to Tree Tops Cottages for decades. There are four privately sited cottages located at Tree Tops. Each unique cottage is restored in the rustic Vermont Camp style, and offers great lake views. This is not a luxury resort, rather a down home, friendly, relaxing place. Depending on the cottage, they will sleep between 4 to 6 people. Each cottage has a complete kitchen with range, microwave, coffee maker etc. We also have a common laundry area for all guests to use. The gradual shale beach is weed free and is rare (for Lake Champlain) due to the fact that it is south facing, which affords all day sunshine and protection from cool northerly breezes. The 'Outer Malletts Bay' lake location offers warmer and calmer water than the 'Broad Lake'. There is a great 70' long dock, plus a float, and our guests have the use of several small boats. Relax in the grassy shade or full sun with lake-side lounging and seating in plenty of hammocks or chaises.

-The water in the cottage is filtered lake water and is not potable. You will need to boil water or buy bottled drinking water for drinking. (FYI, we and many neighbors are on the same type of Lake water system. We bathe, wash dishes, cook and brush our teeth with lake water. The only thing we use boiled/bottled water for is for drinking.) -All cottages are Non-Smoking and No open flames or candles.

Beautiful setting, great hospitality
We came here for a weekend trip and have nothing but great things to say. The setting right on the lake is gorgeous, the cabins are well-equipped and cozy. We had a beautiful sun porch overlooking the water. Skip and Barb are the best. We had free access to kayaks on the lake and fire pit. Only 20 minutes from Burlington. Highly recommend.

The Quintessential Lake Cottage
This was the first time my husband and I stayed on Champlain Lake. We were in cabin 5. Very rustic and Very Clean (thank you) and comfortable. Everything you will need for cooking was in the cabin. There was plenty to do on the lake, kayaking, fishing, boating sunbathing and relaxing. There isn't too may places of interest in the surrounding area so if your kids like shopping, you will have to go to Burlington. We loved it.

The cottage was right out of a storybook in its style and decor, yet very functional too.
The cottage, or cabin was the classic old Vermont style, dating back 100 years! Our family explored the grounds (and peeks in other cottages too). They were all impeccably decorated in that rustic charm yet modified to be functional. There were plenty of electrical outlets for multiple hairdryers, etc. (We were there for our daughter's graduation from Univ. of Vermont). There was good water pressure and all the necessary kitchen appliances we could want. The view was outstanding and the bonfire area by the lake was perfect. We will make a point to return here in the future with friends! Great place and very nice hosts!

Lovely escape...
We stayed in a nice little hut directly at the lake with our 6m old baby. The hut is well equipped with all things that you need and the hosts gave us a warm welcome and were really helpful with renting bed linens, giving advice on things to do etc. Its a great place to let go from daily routines. We loved it...

perfect place to escape during a week end/week
several cottages. We rent a 2 bedrooms one, high view. Be aware that the walls don't go until the roof, and the water is not for drinking, so you have to boil it to cook. But it,s also for this that is so exotic. Lovely decorated. There is a small beach to swim in/look at the lake, you can borrow Kayac, there is barbecue, and 2 hammrocks and 2 swings around the beach. to note: I've not been able to get the wifi signal where I was supposed to have it, but don't tried very hard.... Very close from Burlington, the same price than a basic room in Burlington, but so much peacefull and cheaper because of the meals you can cook. Take the breakfast on the patio in front of the lake was priceless !

Restful, relaxing, retreat
Just returned home from a wonderful vacation at theTree Top Cottages, our first visit to Lake Champlain. This place is a hidden jewel! Lovely scenic location, rustic cottages on a beautiful unspoiled lake. We enjoyed kayakking, swimming and resting in the quiet ,remote location. The owners Skip and Barbara are very welcoming and helpful in suggesting places to eat and sights to see. When not enjoying the lake there are many farmers markets, antique shops and vineyards to explore. So much to see and do, we will definitely be back.

An amazing place
An amazing getaway! We just left there and can't wait to return to Tree Tops! Great hosts, very accommodating and friendly. The cabin was peaceful, tranquil, comfortable and clean! They've got everything you need to relax by the lake or go in for a closer look in a kayak or canoe. Love the Tree Tops Cottages!

EXCELLENT! Highly Recommended
We stayed 3 nights at the cottage. Excellent... excellent stay! The hosts (Skip and Barbara) are very friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful. There are a lot of activities to do: Canoe, swim, boat, grill, but especially enjoy the view, the silence and nature. Our cottage (High View) was very well equipped for cooking, very clean, rustic, but very charming and with a very attentive decoration. I highly recommend this place, we will return with pleasure next year! Martin & Tyler
