Charming stone-built barn in the heart of the Dordogne. Our barn, La Guillarmie, is situated on a unique, secluded hillside and is truly one of the most tranquil and relaxing places to be! The property is full of character and has everything you need for a perfect relaxing holiday with family and friends. Caves, chateaux, gardens, sites of prehistoric interest, restaurants and vineyards border the Dordogne and Vezere rivers, which are perfect for swimming, canoeing and fishing. You are never short of things to do! With lots of outdoor space, the barn is very secure for young families. Woodland paths allow the hills and valleys of the surrounding area to be explored on foot. A house book at the property holds all sorts of exciting discoveries about the local area and the Dordogne region. The hills and valleys of the Dordogne also offer the keen walker or cyclist a fantastically rich and varied terrain, with something interesting to see around every corner. The barn is south facing with a private garden and private pool. Though the barn is marketed as sleeping 6, there are beds for up to eight people, with an additional two travel cots. In the past, the property has been regularly used by two families, with comfortable accommodation for all. More

About the neighbourhood
The Dordogne has some wonderful attractions that appeal to holiday makers of all ages. For the active, tennis, golf and horse riding can be found locally. In the nearby hilltop town of Audrix (5km) there is also a waterpark, L'Etang du Bos, which has pools, slides, a lake with a beach, a cafe and a large children's play area. Circuses also appear throughout the summer and are usually free, being sponsored by the local supermarkets. A great day out is to hire a canoe and spend a lazy afternoon spent drifting down the Dordogne river. The local chateaux are stunning, perched on the edge of huge limestone cliffs. Particularly recommended are the Chateau de Beynac (18km) and its hillside village which clings to the side of a near-vertical rock face, and the Chateau de Castelnaud (20km) which...
How to get there
A car is recommended, though people have visited the property for walking and cycling holidays. BY AIR: two low-cost airlines fly to Bergerac Airport from the UK - Flybe and Ryanair. Car hire at the airport is cheap and easy with Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Bugs represented. The airport is a pleasant and scenic 40 mins (50km) drive from the property - simply follow the river Dordogne via Lalinde to Le Bugue. As you enter Le Bugue, on your left hand side you will pass Intermarché and it is well worth stopping at this point to buy some of the wonderful local food and drink. The property is five minutes drive from here. BY ROAD: From the UK the options are numerous, but we have found these to be the best. (i) Cross the channel via ferry or Eurotunnel to Calais, then head south via Paris, Orlé...
