Welcomed by a lovely couple with - complete with a plateful of buttered Welsh cakes after a long drive! Very quiet and tranquil. Suggested walks were all tried and appreciated. Lovely pub nearby. We loved our holiday. The cottage is quite small so better suited to a family of younger children rather than teenagers.

This is a great base for people who enjoy simplicity. The cottage is relatively small as you would expect for an old, rural Welsh cottage, but as the children spent all spare time playing in the many secret spots in the garden, it was perfectly adequate. We spent every evening eating outside under the distant mountains. I walked the dog every morning on the hill directly out of the back garden gate, and never tired of the stunning views of Portmerion and Harlech castle. There are all the amenities you need in Porthmadog, 20 minutes in the car, or prefect tranquillity if you'd rather it, at the cottage. There's no tumble drier, but the heated towel rail and sitting cupboard meant we could dry clothes when the weather was too changeable to use the clothes line. We had a brilliant week exploring Snowdonia, biking in Cody Brennin, beaches at Borth y gest , Criccieth, and Blackrock sands, crabbing at Porthmadog, taking the train from Talarnau request stop station to Barmouth for fish and chips. If you love the outdoors, this place is an absolute gem.

We love staying here, for access to walks from the door, fabulous oak woodland and the landscapes that uncultivated rough ground produces. We also like that the ownership is with local people, not absentee landlords.

Lovely little cottage in an idyllic location. Good base for towns of Porthmadog and Harlech, castles, beautiful beaches and the Snowdon range. The only thing we were disappointed with was the cleanliness of the cottage, this spoilt what would otherwise have been a perfect, cosy little holiday base. Many thanks.

A lovely well maintained cottage in a beautiful location. Hosts were fantastic, local pub welcoming with good beer. Best summed up by saying it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Will be going back again.
