Cynghordy is a peaceful, rural village - ideal for the perfect get away. This is a recently modernized period property dating back to 1850. The rental is located on a small holding, benefiting from delightful, far reaching views across the Bran Valley with close proximity to forestry and public footpaths, offering excellent opportunity for walking, cycling, riding, bird watching, and fishing. Plenty of opportunities for touring and visiting the numerous attractions within the West Wales Area. The village of Cynghordy is famous for its historic Victorian Viaduct, which is less than two miles walk from the property, built in 1871 to carry the Heart of Wales Railway line. The viaduct is 93 feet high and 650ft long, with 18 arches with easy access from the A483 trunk road. This tranquil, part of Carmarthenshire is predominantly dependant on farming, forestry, and is just on the edge of the Brecon Beacon National Forest. The rental is an adjoining, self-contained annex to the main house with its own entrance, and off road parking, offering a spacious unit, comprising of bedroom which has a queen bed, a separate shower room and a kitchen which is fully equipped. The Living Room includes Dining for 4 and a Sofa bed. The property can sleep a maximum of 4 people comfortably, and we can also cater for babies and young children, with travel cot, high chair. Unfortunately, no pets. If it is a relaxing retreat you seek, then sit back and enjoy a real log burner and enjoy the walks. We may not have a pub any more but there is plenty of choice within 5 miles in the historic town of Llandovery, which also has Restaurants, shopping and Antiques. These are but a few of the attractions on offer with easy access from this retreat. Llandovery also has the remains of its Norman Castle on a hilltop near the Heritage Center, the Motte and Bailey castle was built around 1116 by Richard Fitz Pons, a monument of Llewelyn-Ap-Gruffydd Fychn, stands on the same grounds. The Town also has good transport links along with Cynghordy Station less than a mile walk from the house on the Swansea - Shrewsbury line. LLanwrtyd Wells in Powys is less than 6 miles across the border and has a Red Kite Centre, The Woolen Mill. Powys is an Eisteddfod Area and host to various events during the year including The Royal Welsh Agricultural show, sheep dog trials, mountain biking and walking events, more notably the world Bog Snorkeling Championship and Man v Horse Marathon. Builth Wells is 19 miles north-east and is a market and spa town, nestled on the River Wye. Famously being the location of the Royal Welsh Showground, held annually in July, and offers a range of independent shops, banks, post office, public houses, eateries, sports center, art center, cinema and a delightful 18th Century stone bridge fording the Wye, and also an 18 hole golf course.
