The Apartment is situated within the original Blacksmiths house. Suitable for three adults. Tartan Lindsay carpet in sitting room with cable tv, free wifi, DVD and plenty of brochures and info on surrounding area. Well equipped Kitchen with fridgefreezer, washer/dryer, coffee maker, air fryer, cooker and microwave. Shower/toilet at entrance door. Family bedroom has been 2 rooms now into 1 due to new STL licensing with king size bed and single bed with en-suite. Electric blankets on bed, DAB clock/radio and hairdryer. Mostly on one level just one step down to bedroom. Private parking and use of patio beside burn which goes through garden.

Just back from a fabulous stay at the old smiddy apartment. The accommodation is beautiful inside and out, so clean and had absolutely everything needed as a "home". The garden and patio are stunning, with a lovely resident duck in the burn which runs under the property through the back.
The location was fantastic for us as we dont drive, it was very accessible to get about for trips out every day with public transport and is close to shops.
The hosts are very helpful and so friendly, gave us some history of the cottage, and suggested days out etc, although they have put together a package of absolutely everything you could need to know within the cottage, local takeaways, maps of walks in the trossachs, days out, in case of emergency info etc. Extremely helpful.
Will definitely be back 🙂

Amazing get away at Old Smiddy Balloch
Due to the pandemic our holiday to Scotland was cancelled last year. But we finally got to stay at the Old Smiddy in Balloch on the 20th May and it was certainly well worth the wait. The owners, Fiona and David, live on site, are very friendly, welcoming and always willing to pass on local knowledge.
We stayed in their amazing two bedroom apartment with a good sized lounge/dining room, a double and single bedroom, compact kitchen, two shower rooms and plenty of storage. Facilities include central heating, washer/dryer, microwave a smart TV with Netflix app, Virgin box, DVD player as well as books, board games and lots of information on the area. If the weather is good there is pleasant outside space to sit and relax with a drink or a book.
Everything has been thoughtfully put together offering all you need plus more for a very enjoyable and homely stay near Loch Lomond.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the Old Smiddy Balloch apartment and cottage to anyone wanting to visit the area. Real comfort and value for money.

Really lovely apartment. Immaculate throughout, and helpful and friendly hosts living next door. Spotless bedding and plentiful supply of soft towels! Convenient location to explore local area and also visit Glasgow/Edinburgh.

Second Stay Here - Once again a pleasure to stay
Our second family stay at the Old Smiddy, just like the first time, made so welcome by Fiona & David, we didnt want to leave.

Very cosy and comfortable cottage in a convenient location
My wife, and I recently spent nine nights at the Old Smiddy Cottage, where we hosted my wife's cousin from New Zealand also, acquainting him with his Scottish heritage, meeting family and showing him around.
We all found the property to be a very cosy, clean and comfortable cottage in a convenient location. The cottage has two ensuite bedrooms with freeview TV, lounge with two sofa seats, books and games, CD and DVD player and cable TV, and fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine.
My wife and I took the back bedroom and offered our guest the front bedroom with its charming window view over the burn running under the cottage. There were lovely gardens to the rear of the property, occupied by a resident duck who would come to the kitchen door looking for tasty treats, whom we obliged!

cozy little apartment with all the amenities.
Thank you Fiona and David you were wonderful hosts. We loved the little apartment. Very comfy, clean and easy access to the train, grocery store and many many other things. We would recommend staying here.

A lovely, peaceful little cottage with every amenity and fantastic hosts.
This excellent little cottage is immaculate and very well appointed with safe off-street parking. It is located in a quiet little terrace and is conveniently placed for all Loch Lomond tourist activities. Fiona and David, the hosts, are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable. My husband and I would highly recommend this cottage and would certainly love to stay there again if we were visiting the area.

Loved our stay - highly recommend!
Just returned from a very relaxing and enjoyable 4 night stay. Very well equipped, good wifi, comfortable beds, cosy and immaculately clean. Excellent location for touring in addition to peace and quiet for relaxing. Thank you so much and hope we can return again soon.

Wow what more can I say
After having recently stayed here I must say that I had an amazing time. The guest house was a warm beautiful place, and the owners are an absolute rarity. They are really friendly and went the extra mile for us. I must say that for my first visit to Scotland I was amazed by the fantastic place that is balloch. And by the fantastic place I have stayed. I would recommend staying here to anyone and would jump at the chance to stay here again.
