Cottage
Clachandubh dates back to the early 1800s, it is located on its own by the burn beside a fabulous old bridge. Quiet and peaceful but only a 15 minute drive to the coast and perfectly positioned to visit the Islands. The cottage has been totally up graded from top to tail with two twins, a twin/super-king and a new en-suite bathroom. A well equipped new large family bathroom and new kitchen. Also a spacious sitting room with wifi, flat screen TV, DVD, docking station and dining area with plenty of seating gathered around a large open fire. The local area has an abundance of wildlife with ospreys nesting on the loch near the cottage. As guests on the estate you are free to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty.

The most serene place I've ever visited
Returning after 28 years was like coming home; the cottage changed, yet the same. My family and I felt as if we had never left. Old memories refreshed, new ones created. If you like walking, there is plenty of choice. Thoroughly enjoyed the few walks on the estate that we had time for, and a few other local attractions and trails in the surrounding area; Carnasserie Castle, Fort Dunadd, and Crinan Point to name but a few. If you enjoy tranquillity, you'll feel equally at home whether you are inside or out. The log burner was a big win for me; perfect for curling up with a book, or even just the fire itself is mesmerising! Many thanks to Angus, Willa, and the team. 28 years was too long and our break was everything we had hoped for and then some. Repeat visit planned soon.

Relaxing and comfortable stay
The cottage is spacious, welcoming and exceptionally clean. The enclosed garden was great for our dog. There is plenty of space for parking. The wood shed is opposite and both the men in our party enjoyed chopping the logs for the fire. The fire is great, the best we have used. Plenty of heat and hot water. The master bedroom is lovely and spacious and away at the end from the main living areas. On arrival we had lovely flapjacks, which were a nice welcome. There were all the basics in the kitchen and more. No need to take cloths, washing up liquid, D/W tablets. There was even salt, pepper, tea, coffee and sugar. The only suggestion I would make, is to have a small pint of milk or some UHT milk available for arrival. We could not have a brew until we had been to Oban to collect our shopping. Tesco in Oban does accept deliveries to the cottage however, we only managed to secure a click and collect. The road to Oban takes about 35 minutes. Lochgilphead is nearer but only a small express Tesco in a petrol station. Ederline estate is lovely with plenty of space for walks and watching wildlife. If you want to relax, chill, enjoy piece and quiet in beautiful surroundings, then this is the cottage to book. It is a bit far out for some main tourist places, but there are many great places to visit well within 1-2 hours drive. We had no complaints and very much enjoyed a well deserved break, after a long lockdown! We would recommend and return.

Beautiful cottage - fully equipped - home to home
The location is fantastic, the cottage is beautiful and has everything you need to make your stay extremely comfortable. The area is good, great base for travelling to other Islands around. Been to Lismore cycling around. Best way to see the Island. Next stop Kierra. Lovely walks around the cottage also. We will definitely be back.

a perfect retreat from the everyday world
Tucked away on the Ederline estate, clachandubh is a beautifully appointed , warm and comfortable cottage in a very private setting. There are plenty of walks to be had over the estate and ederline loch with its wildlife so you have the best of coast and countryside around and the road to Oban is very scenic . The crafty kitchen at ardfern is a favourite coffee stop on the way. Oban is a very interesting characterful town and from there , ferry trips daily to the various islands of the inner Hebrides. the splendid e usk on the waterfront in Oban for a fish supper is good at the end of a day out. the village of kilmartin with its café and museum telling of ancient history in the area, with standing stones to visit nearby is also a must. The Crinan canal and its scenic walks and The Crinan hotel with good food and amazing evening sunsets if you are lucky, rounds off a perfect day. So much to do. a week is never enough. we have never been disappointed. roll on our next visit!

Perfection
We enjoyed our week at Clachandubh so much! It's a really lovely house, well stocked and spotless. Cozy beds. Loved walking all around Ederline Estate and boating and kayaking on the loch. From this location we took a day trip to Iona by ferry, went crabbing at Ardfern, and spent time in Crinan as well as Kilmartin (with it's museum and Temple Wood) and Dunadd Fort. Honestly though, just relaxing by the fire listening to the rain in the house was heaven. Willa and Angus are wonderful hosts. We hope to come back to Ederline someday and highly recommend staying there. You won't regret it!

Marvellous cottage for a week long holiday
We stayed with a group of friends and found the cottage to be a great place for the six of us. There was plenty of room in the large, comfortable and bright sitting room. The well equipped kitchen also had plenty space for us all with a large table (as well as the dining table in the sitting room). The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable. The attached boiler room was great for drying out clothes (needed because of rainy days). The cottage is ideally located for walks and cycling from the doorstep and also is only a few minutes from Kilmartin glen with its numerous iron age sites. The Crinan canal is only slightly further away and is ideal for lazy cyclists as it is flat and traffic free. Although the weather wasn't great when we stayed we managed to get out for a least a few hours every day to enjoy the stunning surrounding countryside. The views from inside the cottage across fields to the hills were also splendid on a rainy day. The hosts Willa and Angus popped round to make sure all was well and to fix any minor problems. They were friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. Overall highly recommended.

Great House Great Location
For a quite location that is dog friendly Clachandubh is hard to beat. The house is well equipped and spacious. We had everything we needed for a great break in deepest Argyllshire. Apart from the weather, which was very wet, but it was November so that's to be expected. We also had some snow which was great fun. At night with the fire on and a glass or two to unwind, what's not to like. I made full use of the woodshed and axe and really enjoyed chopping up our own logs. This is a great location to explore Argyllshire and we didn't realise there was so much archaeology in the area. We loved Crinan and had a nice walk along the canal. Loch Awe is within walking distance and Lochgilphead was also worth visiting.

Heavenly peace...
The cottage has been beautifully restored and is in an idyllic situation on a very peaceful estate with glorious views, particularly from the back of the property. It is spacious and well equipped. You are well positioned for touring Argyll and Islay and Jura but there are plenty of glorious walks close by. I would recommend simply walking up in to the hills in the evening and watching the deer and soaking up the magnificent scenery. We were sad to leave. A wonderful holiday!
