Holiday Rental House
Located in West Tarbert, Kelpie Cottage is a traditional cottage in a central location, just a stone's throw from Tarbert's amenities, including shops, hotels, restaurants, cafés, public transport and or course the ferry terminal! With the ferry terminal and public transport so close at hand, we are ideally located for those not wishing to bring their car, but we have a dedicated parking space at the bottom of the garden. Built in the late 1800's, the property has a living room with wood burner, fitted kitchen, shower room and entrance porch/hallway. Upstairs has two bedrooms - one double and one twin. We are a short drive of no more than 15 minutes to the stunning beaches of the west coast. Other pics show the golf course (20 mins drive), East Loch ferry terminal (2 mins walk), Scalpay...Located in West Tarbert, Kelpie Cottage is a traditional cottage in a central location, just a stone's throw from Tarbert's amenities, including shops, hotels, restaurants, cafés, public transport and or course the ferry terminal! Other pics show the golf course (20 mins drive), East Loch ferry terminal (2 mins walk), Scalpay lighthouse ( lovely walk starting about 7 miles away) and a variety of shots from behind and in front of the house showing pictures of the location beside the West Loch where, as you can see, we sometimes experience truly stunning sunsets . The building over the road from our house is the island's school, which contains a public leisure centre, library and children's play park and there is a newly-opened soft play area just a few buildings along from us. This means that you have full leisure facilities quite literally at the bottom of your garden. We have posted a range of pictures to show you what our island has to offer. We provide bedlinen, towels, lovely Highland Soap co toiletries, and wi-fi and electricity are included too. For non- summer bookings we provide a starter pack of logs for the wood burner. Additional heating is provided by various electric heaters, some wall mounted, others of the oil-based portable variety. The house is well-insulated and warm so the wood burner is not often needed. From a tech point of view, we are well equipped. We have free Wifi, provide a good quality desk with monitor and keyboard, as well as a TV/DVD player connected to freesat, netflix etc and other online platforms, a selection of DVDs, and a games console. We also have a portable CD player with iPod dock. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch!More

About the neighbourhood
Central village location, very handy for amenities, including shops, hotels, distillery, leisure centre and soft play. There is a shingle beach a few yards from the property, fronting West Loch Tarbert, but the stunning expanses of sand that Harris is famous for are only a short drive away.
Getting around
Bus services pass the front door (stopping outside the school opposite) but services vary at different times of the day and year. The nearest bus station is located half a mile a way in the village centre, next to the ferry terminal. Car hire is available from Isle of Harris Car Hire, who will do short hires as well as bookings for a week or more.
