Ideal location and sea views
We had a lovely week on Mull and were very pleased to be staying at Taigh Ciuil. The location was great, yes it's a steep walk back up from the harbour but even our 3yo managed it! Views from the house kept us occupied and the house was equipped with everything we need. The upstairs living room was more spacious than the photos indicate, I would say. Petrea was quick to respond and even let us check in early which was a massive help to us which we really appreciated. Thank you!

Wonderful stay on Mull
Cottage was very comfortable, great location overlooking the harbour and Petrea was very responsive to questions. If there are a couple of things that could be improved they would be having blackout curtains in the bedroom (it is light for so much of the night in Mull in late May) and making the instructions a little clearer around things like recycling. All in all, a lovely quiet place to stay and convenient for getting down into Tobermory for tours (Staffa Tours trip to Staff and Lunga was a highlight), restaurants (Mishnish and Cafe Fish recommended) and the fish and chip van on the quay.

Nice property with a few missing things
The cottage is very well built and laid out, with good views of the harbour. Triple glazing and good insulation make it comfortably warm enough. The main issues we had were: - Very limited cutlery, crockery and glassware provided. There's not much point having a dishwasher if you need to wash after every meal. - The duvet on the bed when we arrived was horrible - a hard, plasticky feel and filled with polyester which should be replaced. After sweltering for two nights with the windows wide open, we found a lighter one in a wardrobe. - It's important to be aware that - like most rental property in Tobermory - it's a steep walk down and back to the harbourside, where the shops and restaurants are. This rather inevitable if you stay in the town. With those caveats, recommended for Tobermory.

Enjoyable stay overall but no heating!
Taigh Ciuil cottage in Tobermory was spotlessly clean and overall we enjoyed our stay but there were a couple of issues, the heating situation being the most obvious. It’s apparently centrally controlled by Petrea, the owner. Its coming into October and I found the place cold in the evenings and in the morning. We had no heat for the duration of the stay. There was one towel and no shower gel or soap so I’d advise to bring your own. We found Petrea a little strong in her tone when we were struggling to find the cottage (there are two Breadalbane Lanes!). Positives; it’s a gorgeous wee cottage with stunning views of Tobermory. The place was very clean and there’s a nice wee garden area/patio. For the price I’d expect the option of heating but it didn’t completely tarnish an enjoyable stay.

Very sorry to read that you were cold during your stay. This is the last thing that we would have wanted, as the owner and manager of the cottage The heating is timed to come on for 8 hours during the day and evenings throughout the year but it won't come on if the temperature on the thermostat has already been reached unless there is an issue? We were ot aware of any issues and we don't always know in advance about problems arising unfortunately and if there is a problem we will try to resolve the issue. Its a shame that you felt cold when something so important could have been resolved at the time. We do also provide wood for the woodburner and the cottage should have been super cosy as is often reported in other reviews. In our instructions we also say that we do not provide towels or soap. We do provide antibacterial soap and hand gel. We took a decision to not provide towels as advised by other self catering providers due to the risk around the spread of Covid 19 and we were trying to minimise any further risks to our cleaners who have to handle and manage the laundry. We also explain this in the instructions. We ask that guests read instructions before leaving so that they are aware of such matters including follow our directions to the cottage, as we know there are 2 Breadalbane lanes and we try to flag this up. I sent you a map with instructions and I provided a bespoke sign at the end of the road at Breadalbane lane which I also sent a photo of with the instructions. We are glad that everything else was fine. Petrea

DISSAPOINTED
Well where to begin? ...we stayed here for 12 nights at the princely sum of £1000.00 which we had agreed however page 9 & 10 of the reviews are a misrepresentation the garden is full of weeds garden furniture a total mishmash of bits the decking/verandah sorely in need of some TLCwith a paint brush.the inside was SPOTLESS CLEAN.there were no complementary toiletries & the welcome pack 2 pack of biscuits..REALLY! AND for the piece de resistance!the owner sent us the do's & donts a list as long as both ur arms..1 set of towels each for 12 days & no bed change for that length of time, the shower leaked from under the shower tray all over floor we had to mop every day & the water was not hot after 1 shower & only 1 floor mat for bathroom, and, if all of this was not bad enough when we arrived the tv was not working called owner to be told nothing she can do from Edinburgh & that this has never happened before I asked her if her cleaner could come have a wee look to be told "she has 3 young children" & she said there isn't any one on the island that can fix it !!! Really.!!?? Well petrea this is not our 1st RODEO at island life or tobermorry and are you forgetting the amount of people we're friendly with & who we're friendly with ??? Well folks do you remember cleaner with 3 young kids that couldn't come to help ? Well she rolled up next morning and we thought great she's come to fix tv NO!! SHE'D COME TO FETCH PORTABLE WASHING MACHINE FOR AISLING COTTAGE she's a wee slip of a girl my husband carried it down for her.toilet seat all squee-wiff & 2 small very cheap toilet rolls .I would have at least expected a phone from owner for the cleaners intrusion all be it a lovely girl & owner has contacted us to ask how things went 're telly ! Poor show all round .

Sylvia. I spent many hours talking to you pre your booking and helping answer yiir questiins. I have given you so much of my time already. It's a self catering cottage...this is self explanatory regardibg toiletries etc. If you needed anything else you were more than capable of asking and you would have received. You asked for someone to help you with the TV on the 1st night of your stay in the evening. I said that this wasn't possible to ask my cleaner, as requested by you because my cleaner would have to leave her family which is unfair of you to expect. I knew the TV wasn't broken as you implied. I assumed that if you needed further assistance that you would let me know as this is what you agreed to do but you didn't, so I assumed the TV was tuned in. I explained to you how to use the tv ocer 2 lengthy phonecalls!! The TV was checked after you left and it was all working fine. We never heard another word after that and I was quite grateful as conversations were getting quite curt and your demands and expectations and neediness quite high.. We don't provide extra bedding and towels/ toiletires unless asked and feel we provide enough to get you started. I do have a gardner and am reliant on his availability as to when he can work on the garden. Very disappointed by your review and your expectations.

Great views of the bay, easy access to the harbour area with shops , cafes.
The cottage is positioned above Tobermory bay giving great views of the bay and beyond to the mainland, many small boats to large cruise liners visit with plenty to watch coming and going. Going on a whale watching trip by local boats is well worth the rental as there is loads to see in the seas around Mull and beyond. Also there are plenty of organised trips around the island bird watching with plenty of sea eagles andt the like to watch. A trip to Iona is well worth the visit either by car or bus and a short ferry ride to visit Iona Abbey. Even returning by ferry to Oban for the day for sight seeing is not to be missed. This was our second visit to this cottage and we will return again and again to enjoy its location and comforts.

Fantastic cottage with superb facilities and pet friendly too!!
Taigh Ciuil is a lovely cottage in a great location with stunning views over Tobermory bay. It has excellent facilities and is finished to a very high standard. It is the ideal base to visit the many delights Mull has to offer including Calgary beach, a must for an visitor. Being located in Tobermory the cottage is ideally situated for all of the local amenieties on offer with the colourful main street being only a few minutes walk away.

Great Location
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tobermory. The cottage was well equipped and had lovely views over the harbour. It is an easy walk down but a bit of a climb back up to the cottage. Good exercise but not great if you have walking difficulties! If booking with a pet be aware the garden is not enclosed and we were put off a bit by the fact that the back garden has access to another properties back door (same owner). Our issue was that they had a dog as well and there wasn't a fence or gate dividing the two properties, so there dog could wander into our garden area. We always had to check the garden before letting ours out. Other than that, the cottage is lovely and we had a great holiday. Would recommend a visit to Calgary beach which was stunning. Also a trip to Iona, long drive to the ferry but well worth the trip. Iona's beaches again are beautiful and it is a very peaceful island. Another place to visit is Aros park only a five-minute drive from the cottage. Nice walk around Lochan Trail and waterfalls. Most of the island is single track with passing places but people are very courteous but driving between different parts of the island can take quite a while.

Only catching up with reviews at the moment. Guests stay at Aisling should not use the back garden as they have the exclusive use of the front garden. Its really only used as a fire exit. Glad you enjoyed your stay and the views.

Gorgeouse sea-side house with a view!
Petrea had the home in tip top condition. Very nice and clean and filled with all of the essentials you could ever need. It was in a perfect condition, just a 10min walk down the hill to beautiful Tobermoray. The bed was comfortable, the lounge was warm and cosy with a fireplace and the most gorgeous view over the water. I would definitely recommend as a place to stay, and we will be back to visit again. Thanks for a lovely holiday in your beautiful home.
