Alt Ardoch is a warm and comfortable island retreat in an elevated position offering spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. A backdrop of pine forests offers numerous trails for walking and cycling and paths link to the main villages of the island. A short distance from the cottage there is a footpath via Cuddy Dook and the public tennis courts to the beach and the village amenities of Lamlash. If you are returning after dark you will need a torch!

Had a week golfing on the island and was rewarded with superb weather and a delightful spacious cottage with everything you could hope for. Ideal location as a base to get around and so peaceful. Will undoubtedly be back - many thanks.

We stay in different cottages every year and I have to say my husband and I were extremely impressed with this lovely cottage with split level lounge with the most amazing views over to Holy Island! One bad day weather wise so we stayed indoors...More

Beautiful cottage, kitchen decor and layout from washing machine to dishwasher made light for self catering. Upstairs lounge giving superb views, wifi available. Beds comfortable linen spotless. Cannot fault this. My friend Mrs Thornley booked this

The changeover day can be flexible, depending on the time of year.

A 'Good Housekeeping' Deposit of £150 is required with the final balance payment. This is refunded within 7 days of departure, subject to a satisfactory housekeeping report.

Payment details:
- A deposit of 40% is due to confirm booking and the balance + GHK deposit (£150) is due 8 weeks prior to arrival.
- Payment can be made online securely by credit/debit card or bank transfer.

About the neighbourhood
With a stunning natural environment, the island is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with outstanding wildlife, flora, fauna, geology, archaeology and history. There are high level mountain walks for the more experienced, miles of forestry trails and the Arran Coastal Way, a continuous 100k route. You can also follow circular paths to discover ancient sites, including the Standing Stones at Machrie Moor and King's Caves near Blackwaterfoot.

Brodick Castle, Gardens & Country Park offers a programme of guided walks in the summer months and there are a number of woodland trails, including The Duchess Bathing Pools and a sculpture trail in Merkland Wood created by a renowned local artist, Tim Pomeroy.

The Isle of Arran is easily accessible from the Scottish mainland, less than one hour's drive from Glasgow and Glasgow/Prestwick International Airports; and the ferry takes approx. 55 mins.

Travelling by air: Budget airlines operate from Glasgow International Airport (Easyjet, Flybe) and Prestick International Airport (Ryanair). From Prestwick, there is a rail link to Ardrossan Harbour (change at Kilwinning); and from Glasgow Airport, there is a rail link from Paisley Gilmore Street Station and also from Glasgow Central.

Travelling by rail: There is a direct line from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour (board the front part of the train for the ferry terminal).
