Overhailes Holiday Cottages, sleeping 32 people across 6 cottages, are located on a working arable farm 20 miles east of Edinburgh. We are ideally situated in East Lothian if you are looking to explore the John Muir Way, local castles, world-class golf courses or the pristine beaches and scenic seaside towns (North Berwick, Gullane, Dunbar are 10-15 minutes away). There are train services to Edinburgh from Drem and Dunbar, both a 12 minute drive. The quaint village of East Linton (1 mile) has a grocery store, a pharmacy, a butcher, 2 cafes and 2 pubs. 12 of us rented 2 cottages to spend new year. Overhailes is a lovely location and the cottages were lovey with everything we needed for our break. We had a lovely time and have booked to go back next new year.

About the neighbourhood
Overhailes Farm is situated in the heart of East Lothian between the quiet village of East Linton and the historic town of Haddington. The farm is now mainly arable, though we have some cattle during the winter months. The Wright family have farmed at Overhailes since the 1950's. The farm overlooks the River Tyne and Hailes Castle, originally built in the late 1200's but later expanded during the 1300's and 1400's. Overhailes farmhouse was built around 1780, though parts have been added and removed over the years. In 2002 it was completely renovated.
How to get there
Overhailes Farm is situated in East Lothian, off the A199, between Haddington and East Linton. The nearest airport is Edinburgh which has regular flights from most major UK airports. There is a regular train and bus service from Edinburgh, however, the nearest stations are still at least 5 miles away from the farm. The East Coast Buses Route 107 will drop you at the farm entrance en route from Edinburgh to Dunbar. There are several local taxi firms available if you needed a lift to the farm. The best advice would be to travel to the farm by car. It can be accessed from the A1 at either Haddington (Abbotsview Junction) or Dunbar.
