Beautiful weekend by the sea
Thank you Patsy for the absolutely lovely weekend we just spent at Gooseneck cottage. Gooseneck was exactly as shown in the photos. The garden and the views were beautiful and I was able to relive my childhood by spending hours on the trampoline! We loved the under floor heating and the log burner. It was freezing cold outside but we were so cosy inside. The kitchen is really well equipped and we cooked some delicious dinners in there. Gooseneck is down an idyllic little lane-completely hidden away. Bigbury beach is a 5 minute drive away and our dog loved walking on there! We can't wait to go back and hope to visit again in the spring with the kids who I know will love it too! Thank you!

Beautiful, peaceful and perfect
A gorgeous little cottage that’s tucked away in a lovely little area. Furnished to a very high standard with a modern country feel. Would highly recommend. Patsy was great to deal with and did all she could to sort out the few little issues we initially had. I’m sure we’ll return

Lovely secluded spot, within easy reach of great beaches
Gooseneck is a perfect base for exploring this lovely area of Devon, such as Bigbury on Sea and Salcombe. The cottage is full of character and looks out on to a lovely garden and fields beyond

Quiet location 2 bedroom cottage
This cottage is off the beaten track so very quite, no road noise, no aeroplanes flying over so was just great. Could walk to the beach at Bigbury on sea, and Burgh island, a ferry required to get to Bantam beach. good walks in other directions as well. Cottage was spacious, plenty of room to spread out, large rear garden with nice view and garden furniture that faced South West so got the sun afternoon/evening and space at front of cottage for 2 cars. All equipment in the cottage was new, worked wel so couldn't fault anything.l.

Great Stay in South Hams
A small cottage on one level hidden away, yet near a stunning golf course, Bigbury-on-sea beach and a little further afield locations including Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Ideal if you want to get away from it all, although you might want to consider carefully what food and drink you take with you! (It could be a few miles to the first convenience store!). The fridge is big; the freezer is Ok for, say, three folk for a week's worth of BBQ type eating. Interior decor and comforts good, with, for us, a feeling of French country-gite influence in the background. It came with dish-washer, all the usual ovens etc., and a washing machine and tumble dryer. Other comforts included a slightly ageing and complex surround sound audio/visual system, satellite TV and wi fi. Mobile phone comms, for us, was not good in the immediate vicinity of the cottage, but OK nearby. Mindful that it is tucked away in the depths of hills and their respective valleys one might think it would be shaded yet it was sun-blessed. Mindful of the location described above, beware of any on-line image-based perceptions you might gain that you can see the Burgh Island Hotel from the property! The holiday experience for, us, was Devon at its best. Yet beware the narrow, winding roads and the fools that now drive upon them without thinking of, amongst a raft of other considerations, the protocols one needs to adopt in order for traffic to sensibly use passing points without causing self-generating traffic jams!

Spacious cottage 5 mins from Bigbury on sea
Lovely barn conversion that is much bigger than the photos and description suggests. Lovely garden which our boys enjoyed playing in. Bit of a walk to the beach for little legs but only 5 mins in the car. Would recommend.

Fabulous location and accomodation
The cottage is in a peaceful location with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. It is beautifully decorated and shows that the owners have given much thought to the comfort of their guests! This is a great location for walking, with some of the best beaches in the country being a short distance away. I will definitely return!

Couldn't have been more perfect
On arrival the key was in the security box so no worries with the contact less access. The cottage was everything we hoped for, spacious, clean, well equiped, great WIFI, loads of DVD's for the rainy times and plenty of information regarding the cottage facilities, shops, nearby places to visit and importantly to us, details of walks directly from the cottage. The garden is huge and the dogs loved it. I'd arranged an Asda shop for the day of our arrival. There is no phone signal in the cottage but luckily I was out in the garden when the driver rang for directions from the golf club house (entrance road to the cottage)...phew :-). The nearest shop with most things you need is just down the road in St Ann's Chapel. Be prepared for great walks but can be very hilly and you'll meet lots of sheep. Favorite walk was accross the golf course, down to Bigbury-On-Sea then back along the beach to Cockleridge. Very steep climb back up to the golf course then home. However you have to time this right with the tides! A must is the best salted caramel ice cream ever (can buy tubs in the aforementioned shop and at the beach) believe it's made in Salcombe.

Gooseneck Cottage 👍
Lovely cottage in a beautiful rural location. The local beaches are perfect for youngsters and local eateries are excellent, albeit somewhat pricey. Not much entertainment for teenagers unless they are into water sports, in which case perfect for all the family. My only regret is that we only booked for 1 week! I would book again without hesitation.

About the neighbourhood
Bigbury on Sea beach offers plenty of opportunities for safe fun particularly if you’ve got children in tow. It is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of creepy-crawly entertainment for budding marine biologists. While this beach is popular with families, there are a number of facilities and activities available if you’re seeking a bit more excitement on your holiday. There’s a wide and varied selection of water sports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. If you want to try something different from the usual bodyboarding or surfing then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach.
Getting around
A car is essential as there are just so many great places to explore. Dartmoor National Park with it's miles and miles of ruggedness is on the doorstep as is the South West Coastal Path so if you love walking this is the place to be. There are many dog friendly beaches including Bantham, Mothecombe, Wembury and Thurlestone to name a few. We are so lucky to have access to so much fresh food especially fish so if you love food, check out the Oyster Shack near Bigbury and the Crab Shed in Salcombe - 2 of my favourites!
