Cottage
This is an artists cottage built around the 1900's set low on one and a half acres in Co. Sligo, just outside the village of Grange. It is a perfect place to really relax and feel cut away from the world. If you are looking for something more unusual and special then this is a place to consider. . There are the most amazing beaches within 10 minutes drive for swimming and surfing, There is stunning scenery with mountain walking and the local village of Grange has all that one needs, supermarket, laundrette and two lovely pubs all 15 minutes walking distance from the cottage. The downsides for those who need to be in touch, are erratic or extremely limited phone reception and no internet,, but that is balanced by calm..You can walk to the top of the lane and make those calls from there...This is an artists cottage built around the 1900's set low on one and a half acres in Co. Peaceful, Charming
The Marsh Cottage was a gentle and comfortable stay. Rustic yes but not Spartan. Foremost in any lodging is the bed - large and comfortable. Waking up to the sunrise across the bay was lovely and an inspiration to lounge on the back deck but then get out to enjoy the countryside. Access to all of Point Reyes was easy. The only negative but an important one is that when leaving the parking area is is very necessary to be careful of oncoming traffic. Be careful.

A year later, But nonetheless thank you for such a review. We have put some concrete at the top of the laneway so it is easy now to stop and check for oncoming cars! Kind regards, Catherine

Relaxing stay in a lovely cottage
My wife, 2 dogs and I stayed in Marsh Cottage for a long weekend. It is the perfect location for the nearby village of Grange as well as the fantastic Streedagh beach. The cottage itself is very cosy, full of character and very well equipped. We loved the huge garden surrounding the building and fortunate enough to be able to sit outside to make the most of the longer summer evenings. Catherine was extremely welcoming and provided us with some great suggestions of places to visit. We will definitely be back and thanks again for letting us stay !

My husband and I stayed at Marsh Cottage and we were joined by our 2 adult daughters for 2 of our 4 nights. We all enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the cottage itself and the surrounding countryside. The Cottage, which was very cute, was well equipped and comfortable. There is no TV and poor internet and phone signal which only added to the peace and improved the interaction. Anyway all that is minutes away if you want it as are the wonderful beaches and scenery.

A little oasis of tranquility
My wife and I took our 3 young children here for 3 nights over Easter. Catherine the owner was very friendly and informative regarding local places of interest to help us plan our visit. The cottage is easy to find, located at the end of a private lane just off the main Sligo road. You have complete privacy and your own little field for the children to play in. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and Sligo is only 15 minutes drive. The cottage is warm and cosy and well equipped. We were left undisturbed throughout our entire visit which was lovely. A few tips, visit John Lang's in Grange. We popped in for a quick pint and ended up staying for food. Traditional Irish living room pub which extends into a restaurant. Visit rosses point and lisadell beaches at lisadell we had a huge unspoilt beach to ourselves. We love Sligo and loved marsh cottage

Perfectly Accomodating
I can't believe my review wasn't posted here before... either my bad or a technical glitch! My apologies to Catherine for not having kudos up here in a more timely fashion! I couldn't thank her enough for making our stay here possible, from the beginning with delays in booking due to horrible weather related problems at home, to resolving the booking company errors after our stay. None of that should reflect upon our vacation at Marsh Cottage. Catherine went far above and beyond to make our visit happen! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay... relaxing in the cottage, enjoying the serenity, feeling as if we were staying at a family place (not the usual stripped bare holiday cottage). We enjoyed our leisurely breakfasts and evenings by the fire in the cozy living area. Our days were passed relaxing there or walking on the beach, taking day trips to Donegal Town, the Giants Causeway and drives through the countryside, as well as shopping in Sligo, exploring the local sights and sites, and a few nights out at local places having dinner and connecting to wifi and letting the folks at home know how wonderfully our trip was going. I've never heard anyone one say that Sligo should be on a top ten list of "must see" places to be in Ireland, so let me be the first. After many trips to other parts of Ireland, I have to say that our time at Marsh Cottage felt more authentic, real, and peaceful. Our thanks to Catherine and her family for sharing such a unique place with us.

I am so glad that someone like you has really understood that Sligo is a hidden gem, which it truly is. Thank you for flagging that. It was a pleasure having people like you staying and that you recognised that it is first and foremost a family cottage .

Excellent getaway
The stay at March cottage was a perfect way to spend a long weekend. Catherine was so helpful, and the cottage is cosy, with all the essentials. Six of us stayed there with a toddler, and we had a blast surfing and walking the many nearby beaches. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

Lovely welcoming place very suitable for dogs
We were at Marsh Cottage with our two rescue greyhounds for a week in early September. Sunshine and rain showed off the stunning landscape to dramatic effect. We were on the trail of WB Yeats and visited Ben Bulben mountain, Inisfree lake and the grave in Drumcliffe. Streedagh Beach with its rolling surf is sensational. More prosaically we were impressed by the SuperValu hypermarket in Grange with its great range of wines and local produce. The house is comfortable and old-fashioned with plenty of room and 5 beds. Our dogs were made to feel especially welcome.

Under bare Ben Bulben's head
Superb - exactly as promised. The cottage is secluded but not too eerily remote, extremely comfortable and - important for our two rescue greyhounds - very dog friendly. Within easy reach are the magnificent Streedagh beach and Mullaghmore Point. For the Yeats enthusiast there's Lissadell House, which is very well restored and maintained, the grave at Drumcliffe, and the beauty of Lough Gill. All under the shadow of the truly impressive Ben Bulben. Unique location for a great holiday.

Family friendly, tranquil, nostalgic, dog paradise.
A superb welcome and the attentive proprietor have everything ready for you in this remote and well maintained traditional cottage. It became a wonderful paradise for our family and dogs with easy access to all the Yeat's Country attractions and the magnificent scenery and beaches. We particularly enjoyed our early morning walks on Streedagh Beach (5 minutes away by car) with the dogs, the Atlantic Ocean, Benbulben, millions of fossils and nobody else! Good memories were recalled as the cottage brought back evenings and summers spent with Nana in her home on Co. Clare.

About the neighbourhood
Grange where Marsh cottage lies, is for the sea lover, it is for the hill and beach walking lover. Although you have to drive 5 minutes to Streedagh beach to have your evening or early morning swim and jump back into the car for a shower and hot whiskey in marsh cottage , you can actually walk down to the shore which is the inlet and back side of Streedagh (see ordinance survey map) for a short walk and there is always something to catch the eye. Nearby 15 minutes drive is the magnificent 'horseshoe' which is the interior side of famous Benbulbin which is a wonderful mountain to climb. Mullaghmore is a super picaresque fishing village 15 minutes away where there is nught and day life. Day trips can be organised to the stunning island if Innismurray or indeed hired angling for thre day also. If you like surfing there are endless possibilities, Streedagh, Mullaghmore, and 25 minutes away is Bundoran where you can get surf lessons, hire boards and have great fun.. In the evening there are pubs and restaurants in Mullaghmore and there is one in grange itself called Langs
