Sotira (meaning 'saviour' in Greek) is a warm, welcoming place and one of Cyprus's historic 'red soil' villages located a 2 minute drive from the city of Paralimni on the South East Coast of the historic Famagusta province. The village has an abundance of traditional tavernas, restaurants, bars, bakeries & boutiques. Whether you're looking to shop, eat or just relax over a coffee, beer or glass of wine whilst watching the villagers pass by; it's just a short walk from your front door. The village has an abundance of traditional tavernas, restaurants, bars, bakeries & boutiques. Whether you're looking to shop, eat or just relax over a coffee, beer or glass of wine whilst watching the villagers pass by; it's just a short walk from your front door. Sotira's cuisine has such a strong reputation that many people make the journey from places such as Agia Napa & Protaras to sample the traditional fayre. Villavanti is just a 2 minute drive away from the city of Paralimni which offers a wide range of facilities one would expect from a city including large supermarkets, bars, restaurants, banks etc. Trips to paralimni offer that city break atmosphere where contemporary boutiques stand adjacent to distressed old tavernas and where your senses are treated to the scent of fresh coffee, the sound of church bells and the interaction of people traversing the square. Here you will also find the large scale supermarkets of Kokinnos, Orphanides, Carrefour and Xenis on the periphery of the old town. Just a 6 minute drive from the complex are the inimitable Fig Tree Bay and world famous Nissi Beach where the 'azure blue' Mediterranean sea await your arrival. Snorkelling around the secluded clearwater coves of Cape Greko is popular and you will see water sport excursions and boat trips to the uninhabited city of Famagusta advertised widely throughout the region. Water World (water park) is a family favourite and is a short journey from Sotira. Whether you prefer the bustling night life or evening seafront walks with the family Agia Napa & Protaras are a short distance away. Local taxi's will take seven people cost effectively to Ayia Napa for around 17 Euro for a night out. There is also a popular bus service connecting Sotira with Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimin and many of the surrounding villages and as far afield as Larnaca. Local buggy or bike hire is available for a fun day out.More

About the neighbourhood
Sotira has the charm of a small village but a deceiving diversity of amenities. The village is steeped in history, There are a number of churches and basilicas some of which contain frescos from the 12th century. You will not fail to be impressed by a weekend evening in one of the tavernas playing live music. Here, you will be absorbed by the atmospheric culture of eating and drinking slowly to the backdrop of live traditional Greek music whilst local guests haphazardly rise from their dining tables to proceed to dance with a rhythmic and tasteful demeanour. It is not uncommon to see families, including young toddlers gathered around the restaurant tables until the small hours; dining here is a very family embracing activity. Tavernas: Mousikos- Traditional food and live 'gree...
Getting around
Always best by car. Hire car company details can be supplied without prejudice. There are several that we, as a family, have used with great satisfaction and value. The is a bus service which runs through the village and connects to all the recognised resorts and attractions. Bus stop is 4-5 minute walk from the villa. Taxis are also a great local resource and decent value for money.
